Most protective sealant/wax?

Can one of you pro's give me some advice as to your choise for the most protective product for my paintwork, I do a lot of miles (25k+ these last 12 months) and the paintwork suffers from flies/tar etc badly, even had some nasty little rusty spots stuck in the paint, almost like someone had sprayed the car with grinder sparks.

I have read that synthetic stuff is supposed to be the best, but would like to hear some first hand experiance on particular products

For ultimate durability it has to be Zaino.

Pro-detailing sell it and they have a 10% offer on it too.

basically you want to start with Z-aio, then follow up with Z5pro and then Z8, that is the quickest way but there are also alot of different combinations etc when using zaino

Im not after a big pack of products, I am happy with what I use to clean and prep my paint and just want some better protection for the finish

if you want a very good finish then Zaino is the way to go, yes it is expensive but the results show this, i have got 2 threads in photogallery from mine and essexboys car both used with Zaino and the results are truly stunning.

there are also products like Dodo wax that is supposed to be very good and that is £32.00 a tub i believe avaliable from cleanandshiny.co.uk.

Dave what wax are you using as the durability of that seems to be very good?

Im more interested in protection and easy washing than overall shine/lustre though

like i said early dodo joice is supposed to be a good wax, easy to apply and buff of and gives good protection

Zaino is amazng stuff.

Might be expensive but last ages and gves a great shine!

Dan, Steer clear of a wax if you want good durability.

Waxes tend to give a deep gloss and great wetness but are never as durable as a sealant.

A wax can give fantastic depth tho.

I have a bottle of Chemical guys factory sealant that I used on my car before I got involved in waxes, It was really nice and easy to use and seemed to last quite well on the car.

All depends on budget mate.

a bit more on the sealant vs wax business.

Zaino does last a bloody long time but dont expect to buy a bottle of Z2Pro and have a fantasic finish. In my experience of Zaino you need a damn fine canvas to start with and that usually means machine polishing. I have now saved my Zaino for all but the best cars that pass through my hands.

Also, I find that sealants look better with metallic paints, allowing the flakes to pop out at you. Given you have a white car (I think?) the choice may not be as clear cut...

More recently I have been using more carnuba wax as I like the gloss and warmth it gives, especially on solid colours. You may not get the absolute clarity you do with a sealant but its a matter of taste. Especially if combined with a glaze.... the sealant can leave the finish looking a little cold in some peoples eyes.

Anyway, in terms of durability I can recommend Collinite (either 476 or 915). This should last you about 8 weeks which is very good for a wax and not unreasonable if you enjoy giving you car the once over every now and again and not every weekend.

Thanks Pad, I dont mind hard work to get my car clean, or machine polishing, ive got a cracking air powered mop and wouldnt go back to lectric by choice

I usually wax at about 8 weeks (or longer if its cold ) anyway and by that time the paint is looking pretty sorry for itself with plenty of road rash.

I dont mind paying more for less work afterwards but dont expect me to parting with any more than £50 for a bottle/tub that lasts 5 years

there is nothing totouch it for durability

use Z-AIO and that will give good finish and awesome durability along with an amzing finish for one step product

easy on easy off

this will give 6 months plus protection

and thats from experience not internet talk

wax as already rightly pointed out is never gonna outdo a quality sealant in durability stakes

Not used the Zaino AIO yet, does this negate some of the need to have a flawless finish to begin with Jon?

its an all in one as the name suggests

it is a cleaner/rectifier aswell so its abrasive but not massively

it is a very very good product that is ideal for daily drivers as the protection is typically zaino

i do all door shuts etc with it and slickness is amazing

it is used as base coat to z2pro z5 pro etc but thats only if you want to go to nth degree

zaino ie z2 z5 etc does want a flawlessfinish to be superb but its kind of a trade off in my eyes

zaino is 99.9% optically perfect soit enhances what you have in way of finish which if its a show car finish (forwhich it was designed) is exactly what you want as your prep will be second to none and you dont want fillers masking anything etc

the trade off is that to not have fillers etc you want perfect reflection of light which is what z2pro gives you

z-aio is best of both worlds in my eyes as it gives zaino a product that can be used not so much for show car levels but give you the same durability and allow a certain amount of cleaning/correction to be done in one stage

Was thinking about getting an AIO product for work that I dont want to crack out the polisher with, was leaning to Poorboys PWS but may just go for the Zaino after all.

Just been looking at the Z-AIO, so even though its a cleaner it will still protect the paint for 6 months as good as a wax can?
