Zaino and Porter Cable.

Hi, ive treated myself to a porter cable to use with my Zaino products, along with some Sonus pads. (Which came with some Sonus paint cleaner)

Can anyone help with a quick guide as to which products to use with which pads etc please?

Im thinking, wash car with fairy liquid, poss clay, apply Zpc with 2nd most abrasive pad, then maybe move to the most abrasive pad if that isnt doing the job.

Polish-lok is next, i take it by hand as this is not abrasive?

Z-3 over the top, with the least abrasive pad, then remove with the microfibre bonnet.

Spray with Z-8 and wipe off by hand.


I understand there is a certain amount of trial and error involved and diiferent people will have different ways of doing it, but does this sound like a good start?

this is the bloody 3rd time Ive typed this, hopefully it will go this time!!

I would definitely clay before using a machine polisher, otherwise there is no telling what you are swirling into your paint.

Also start with the least aggressive pad you have, dont try to second guess your starting point as you may get the desired results with the finishing pad and leave more paint in place.

I cant comment on polish lok or Z3, have always used Z2Pro with ZFX myself, hopefully someone else will be able to comment.

Will be interested to see how you get on with ZPC, I found it compared poorly to Menzerna finishing polish which is what I now use. Howver the LSPs are up there with the best.

by the way, I always apply whatever LSP you are using (be it wax or sealant) by hand, not machine. You are just putting a protective layer over the paintwork so it is more important to get coverage than it is to 'work' the product, like you do with a polish.

This may answer your last q's.

Last Stage Product. as per name really, a generic term for wax or sealant product that protects the paint rather than cleaning or polishing it.

SOUNDS OK TO ME.AS HAS BEEN SAID GO LEAST ABRASIVE FIRST AND SEE HOW ITS DOING WITH REMOVING DEFECTS AND HOW YOU ARE GETTING ON WITH PORTER.ALL IWOULD SAY IS DEFINATELY CLAY.MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE

I APPLY THIS WITH PORTER AT SPEED 2.5ISH USING NON ABRASIVE PAD.THE REASON IS THAT WITH ZAINO THE GOLDEN RULE WITH ZAINO IS LESS IS BEST AND YOU NEED ULTRA THIN LAYER AND YOU CANT GET ANYWHERE NEAR AS THIN OR EVEN BY HAND.cOVERAGE IS THE KEY I AGREE BUT THIS CAN BE 99% ACHIEVED WITH PORTER AND ANY AREAS THAT YOU CANT GET WITH MACHINECAN BE DONE BY AND AND THEORECTICALLY THEY ARE THE AREAS YOU WILL HAVE HAD TO DO BY HAND WITH ZPC OR ANY OTHER PREP PRODUCT ON YOUR PREVIOUS STAGES

I REMOVE BY HAND USING MICROFIBRE CLOTH.JUST FIND IT EASIER AND MORE EFFECTIVE AS YOU CAN KEEP TURNING THE CLOTH.DO NOT CROSS CONTAMINATE PADS SO ONLY USE 1 PRODUCT TO ONE PAD

Spray with Z-8 and wipe off by hand.
SMALL SECTIONS AT A TIME SAY 18" BY 18".DONT DO ON HOT PANEL OR IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT.MIST ON AN WIPE INTO PANEL STRAIGHT AWAY

i put another coat of z5 pro on earlyer and ill tell you what its getting a deeper shine all the time.
