Well I just got back from Janspeed in Salisbury (nice company - recommended) who put on the 6 branch (older style) [and a new control arm and the H&R Anti-roll bars less relevantly] - so the car's running the following now, if this helps OP :

E30 Zone Shop "Wild" chip
Big-bore throttle body
K&N 57i Induction Kit (Yes, Sal, it's still on there... :o: )
6-Branch manifold

And it got 152.7bhp at the wheels and 150ish lb/ft torque.
I'm lead to believe that the wheels is 20% down on the flywheel figure - can someone confirm? If so, its 190+-bhp at the fly which rocks.

The H&R Anti-roll bars make a hell of a difference to handling by the way lads, as per the review on here by Jhonno.

Now I've got her back and she's running well - I'm well chuffed :P
325i 1989 G Reg now for sale. 6 branch (older style) from Zone shop, upwards of £900 spent at MOT April 2007 with brand new exhaust and two new tyres, very low mileage since due to company car. PM or email jammi@btopenworld.com for more info / offers.

i was told the flywheel figure is usually 10-15% higher than @the wheels but im no expert. couldnt the r/r operator work it out for you? how come some r/r'ds give a flywheel figure and others give at the wheels figures when all measure at the wheels? :?

i got 178hp using 15% transmission loss.

152*100/85. so take a transmission loss from 100 and substitute the 85

Some give a figure that's corrected to account for losses in the drive train and the tyres on the rollers, but it's just a guess at the end of the day as the losses when there's no load on the drive train are different to when there is load.

It's not a bad guess, but it's still a guess.

Yeah I was looking online just now and 15% seems to be the agreed figure to use when guessing the flywheel figure.

Most RR centres will probably give flywheel figures if they want their customers to feel better about themselves. I'm not knocking those that do... but like with stereos I prefer to use RMS figures as its more "real world"... But to be honest as soon as I had the wheel bhp I did the maths to make the number bigger straight away so they might have well as told me the flywheel guesstimate in the first place :o:

I thought the 153lb/ft torque max was a little low? I've seen lots of "170" figures mentioned on the forum but re-looking (if its not a word it should be) thye seem to be the 2.7s and had some extra stuff done. Is 150 bhp and torque at the wheels a good figure??

not really sure. ive got mine chipped with ANSA exhaust and cold air. but ive also got an aluminum flywheel which makes for more useful power. I know it spins up faster than any other 5-speed e30 ive driven with the likewise mods. id guess around 190 or so.

2.7 fully lightened and balanced bottom end, cam, BTB and BBTB.

No idea on power as it not been RR, only 1680 miles on this build so she is still tight, expecting 200 bhp +

As far as The Pod goes ill deffo be there, last year was a blast, 15.3 in my sport last time, hoping to be quicker this year and maybe surprise a few people.

My 1988 E30 M10 B18 (316 1.8) is pushing about 120BHP with Mikuni/Suzuki GSX BST34 bike carbs, custom laser cut alloy manifold, Maxiflow RC 125 air filters, sytec regulator at 2 psi, D'Bilas 292 10mm lift cam, Magnacor 8.5mm competition leads and NGK Iridium plugs. Just need a free flow exhaust to complete the mods and dyno the car, but most M10 manifolds are for 2002 or e21 or LHD cars. My steering gets in the way, so I guess I'll have to cough up big bucks for a custom system. Maybe when my pension pays out then?

m20b25: 178 on the clock... supposedly a 120k engine but thats been proven to be as believable as the claim it was a good engine.

Piper cross foam filter bollocks.

Cheap-ass 'wild' chip.

dodgy bodged HKS exhaust.

Early high comp engine on late management.

On other forums I claim 174 + 15 from the chip + 1 from the management mod. So 190 (152bhp/ton)

In reality I'll be lucky if I'm pushing 170. Probably close to 160.

Close ratio diff means I'll still lay waste to an 850 t5. proven by my ass dyno and my mates 850 t5. Thats a 225 bhp car btw.

the bhp and 1/4 mile figures are just for jovial bragging rights.although my touring has a decent power output i know theres plenty about with more and will happily admit to a defeat because like my car ,when you come up against something on the road you dont know what engine has been fitted or what stage of power its tuned to .to date ive not been beaten by many but i do like to try against bigger sportier cars to see how i fair against them and to give me the spur i need to tune it to the next level.
some people take it to personally. as previously said, just enjoy your car, thats what its about
im hoping to race against my mates new evo 8 this weekend and will post up the results. winkeye

850 t5 (225bhp, 1447kg) = 155bhp/ton

My heap (at a guessed 170bhp, 1245kg) = 136bhp/ton

Take into account the close gearing of my car and the long motorway gearing of his car, plus that its 10 years old and has lived on a farm all its life so is probably quite far down from 225bhp and its not so far fetched.

850 t5 has a book 1/4 mile of 15.6, not far off the 'book' 1/4 of a 325.
