when i was up at my local bmw a few weeks back they were just getting a new m5 touring out of the show room to put outside, as i stood there gawping at it they fired it up, gave it a blip of the throttle and one of the guys went, sounds nice hey?
i the continued to look in amazment as i strolled back to my 316, wishing it was an m5 touring.

There are a few video's of the new M3 on youtube (as i'm useless with computors can't post a link) and it sounds good but IMO doesn't look as good as the old M3, it's just too bland.

Gone but not forgotten.

The new M3 already has the CSL carbon roof and the flappy paddle g/box as an option, so don't know what else they could do for a CSL version.Danhbmw wrote:The E39 M5's V8 sounded better IMO. I think new M3 has gone a bit too upmarket, there's gonna have to be a CSL version out for those who want to see it get back to its roots.
Or a 135iCSL!!

Look at E46 CSL,
Different bumpers, "real" sport seats, higher output engine, different suspension setup, different steering setup, different brakes, lighter wheels, semi-slick tyres, plastic bootlid, lots of carbon inside. It basically became an uncomfortable car to use frequently due to it's lack of creature comforts, and the new M3 has too many of these creature comforts IMO.

Only differences I saw in spec was some had a headunit, others didn't - they just had a carbon plate in it's place,
Apart from that it was just the wheels i seen you could get that differed.
Oh and if you had a racing licence you could get one without 155mph limit on!

Most of you are talking BS, especially maxfield.
There won't be an M car as such for the 1 series i.e. M1 as the name can't be confused with the legandry M1 BMW.
If anything a 135Csi...
The above care would depreciate in value immensly, look at the price of a 130i !!!!!!!
There is plenty of E92 M3's in the country, I see them everyday as I live near BMW GB HQ
There will never be another E30 with these modern engines, their a death trap by modern safety standards although some will disagree
A CSL version of the new M3 would be nice, but with the new basemodel at low £50K's who herr has £70K's for a CSL version and at that pricepoint there are many cars but an M3 that would be better.

Interestingly, according to cars.uk.msn.com (thank ya Rosco) the 1 series is Britiains 20th least depreciating car at three years. It makes me think of, there's something about Mary.
