Any readers of the wonderful PPC Magazine entering the £999 Challenge?

I am, with a mate of mine (for those who met him, Rob who came to LeMans with me)!

Not saying just yet what car we've won on Ebay to do it in though! winkeye

There's a page (36) about it in this months issue.

Challenge is to buy / build / modify / b'stardise the fastest car possible for under £1000. Must be taxed, m.o.t.d and road worthy!

There's a drag race and handling circuit.

You wouldn't believe what me and my mate have bought for £560!

I reckon a sierra 4x4 with nitrous would rock. and would come in under £1000
325i Tech 1 Touring, breaking.

XR4x4 was a car we considered, as well as about a hundred others!

Spill the beans on what you have brought martin! If all goes to plan I should have something with about 190bhp/ton for less than £700, might be useable for this even though i didn't know it existed. Might have to subscribe to PPC soon, seems like a good mag. Couldn't scan that page in could you? :D

I would Jon, but I haven't got a scanner! :(

I think I'll keep you lot guessing for a while, 100 points for anyone who guesses even nearly correctly!

You MUST subscribe! Everybody must, it's such an interesting and entertaining magazine.

I'm wondering what you got now though! :squint:

We considered many Japanese cars because we think they are great (and we both work at a Japanese car spares distributor!), easily modified, usually reliable etc.

But..... no.

How about a heavily stripped e34 535i manual with a helping of nitrous oxide? Very unimaginative, but could be effective.

Yeah, we did think of nitrous but neither of us know a thing about it and we couldn't be bothered in the end.

Stripped out, yes.
Anything we got would have been stripped!

Just so happens someone had done it for us already! :D

We have the same thing over here.. I did the one year in a 325 E30 and another in a Peugeot 505 Turbo.. It was a good time. But the V8 conversion RX 7s were hard to run against..

Yep, it has it's good points. I think!

The challenge is on October 13th at York Raceway.

Jak / Bam2002 - that's cool! Amazing what cars you can pick up for hardly any money! Like the sound of RX7 V8! winkeye

I looked at my girlfriend all proud and said "You can tell all your mates that your boyfriend drives a BMW and a Maserati!"

She said "No, I'll tell them he's got two piles of sh*t!".

She just doesn't understand!
