driveshaft E30 325i

i've just replaced my drive shaft center mount and there now seems to be a juddering vibration comming from the rear wheels has anyone got any ideas

Did you mark the two sections of the shaft before splitting, to make sure it went back the same way??

Did you pre-load the bearing when fitting??

no i didn't mark the drive shaft
which bearing do i need to pre-load is it the centre mount bearing if it is then yes i did

That might well be your problem then... They're balanced as one piece & if you don't put them back together the same way, they won't be balanced anymore! If that does turn out to be the cause, your options are either turning it spline by spline until the vibration goes away, getting it balanced by a specialist, or getting a new prop. :(

Someone on here has said that the props are marked anyway, its just a matter of finding the marks under the years of dirt that have built up.

do u know if there is any way of re-balancing the shaft without taking to a specialsit

by the way i can't get my pic to display :cry:

i had two little centre punch marks on mine i'm sure you'll have the same so don't panic

I looked at my 318i prop earlier and as Brian said, two small white dots (about 5mm across) are what I can see.
