if you re-enforce the sump then give it a hard smack, it'll more than likely disturb the sump gasket anyway. sometimes i wish bmw's had steel sumps as they just dent a bit but tend to survive!

This is the one like I was going to make.
It would be easyer to make then the sold one and you get air round the sump.
There is one on e bay at the moment.

Count me in also, but would need a price tho to make it 100%.
Also a question, once this is bolted up, if it does hit anything is there a chance of it moving up towards the sump etc???

No chance, I have jacked my car up on the guard with no problems, it is most definitely 'structural' once fitted

Having just changed my cracked sump I must say that it's a messy, oily pig of a job and anything that saves me having to do it again sounds like a bloody good idea to me.

he had an M50 manifold, has he got it fitted up yet? I was expecting him to get back telling me how he got on with the special bits.

Not yet mate, with him being so busy he will be making one up on a saturday or as soon as he gets chance really, once its made he will give me a price as its all about how many hours he has to put in. Materials will prob cost about £30ish I would of thought
I had a quote on the guard Ian has last year sometime and it was more like £140+

If your interested I can speak with Nigel the guy who has produced all the PBMW sump guards, he already has templates and tooling for M20 and M40 engines????
no idea on cost as he did them all for free for PBMW drivers just asked for a charity donation from each driver
PM me if your interested in another option

Cant get any work out of the bloke
I had mine back yesterday and re-fitted it so I can navigate the crappy roads where we will be going for a week away.
He seems to have better work to be getting on with at the moment, cant fault him for that TBH
