Sounds like your car has the ews system, check around the ignition barrel for the ring antenna if there is a plastic ring with a wire on it your car has ews.

To obtain a new key you would need to order it through your local BMW Dealer but you may have a problem ordering it as they WILL need to see the Reg Doc in your name with proof of ID..

If you do not have these it is down to the dealers discretion whether they would supply you a key or not

To confirm if your car has the ews system pm me the chassis number and I'll check it for you.

The unfortunate thing is if the car does have ews and you can't obtain a key you will never start the car.

thanks for the advice.

there is a transponder reciever around the ignition barrel which is a problem! many others have done s50 engine coversions in e30's using standard management, so how is this possible?

will i need to get the ecu unlocked? if so who can do it?
