They were right hand drive and built to cope with altitude if I remember correctly from once reading a magazine article. I'd say very rare in the UK?

They drive on the left in SA, so RHD

Gaffa tape is like "the force" - it has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together.
There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffer tap

I'm on the case! Always wanted one since i found out about there existance.

uber rare and worth having for the kudos. First one i've seen. It's probably rotton hence no MOT and the sale. If it's been a daily runner over here for a few years it probably rusty
i don't think SA cars had quite the same undersealing as the euro models

They may be uber rare but if they only deliver the power you would expect from a slightly touched 325 then is it worth the premium??
333 I would be expecting atleast 230bhp bearing in mind the MPGs will be shocking even when stood still!!

casper8r wrote:off topic - is it me or are the cars on that page overpriced? Average prices for e30's there seem to be much higher than on eBay or zone, and it's not like they're all FSH pearls either!
the prices on this site are not unduly high overall and there are some very nice cars on there I am sick of repeating that a good 325 at say £3k is cheaper than an average one at £1000. reason to get the average one right will cost more than £2k. if you want a good one and appreciate these cars you will pay the money if you want a cheap rwd banger then buy the cheap ones and eek out the last bit of life in them but you will not get a good one without spending on it one way or another.

the 333i is a rare beast and very fast but not my favourite of the South African Exclusives.
BMW SA made you choose between PAS and AIR CON - you could not have both - and given the climate most punters ticked the aircon box making this a very heavy car to drive.
215 were made packing out 207bhp at 210 lbf.ft - as for value, this model is purely worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, a really a good example with no rust and say under 120.000 miles with a years MOT would be worth between 5 - 6k. Good low milage models over in SA still can fetch up to £7k. However the 325is are much more sought after
And bear in mind the build quality of these SA cars are not the same as what we Brits are used to. I remember when BMW GB imported 1000 1998 4 door e36 318is from South Africa to keep up with demand - when they arrived at the docks bits of trim were falling off, switches etc you could really tell the difference - Shame because they had supereb specs. There are so, so many 3 series BM's on the Roads of SA as they are quite cheap to buy. They still import the 5 series and 7 series from Munich thankfully.
I prefer the 325is EVO 1 as those models are more or less guaranteed to have aluminium panels - plus the Alpina 2.7 engine and the M3 Suspension and Steering made it a cracker of a car, and 9/10 wil have very high specs, nearly all should have leather and aircon.
The EVO 2's were put together with whatever panels BMW could find in the factory, so some were made up of Aluminium panels and some were not.
