A friend of mine asked me to have a look at his M3 evo differential as it was clonking like an E46 M3 SMG does in S4 or S5 mode under hard changes, yes I know its not an e30 but you know. I found the following (big pic warning):

I cleaned most of the shit up using gunk and it was thick oil and smelt bad so probably diff oil. Looks like its coming mainly from the left hand side (as viewed from the rear of the car towards the front). Would I be correct in saying the left driveshaft seal needs to be replaced?

In the e30 diff's there are seals in each output flange, these tend to leak on older diff's.

Cheers for the reply, where can I get the tools e.g. a torx socket set locally?
