The ECU for the M50B25 vanos is the 413, but comes in a pre EWS version and an EWS version.
I think they are distinguished from each other by the colour of the label.
IIRC, maroon and silver? Anyone know for sure which is which?

Looking at it another way - could you not use the chassis number on the ECU label to reference with BMW doing a spec enquiry?

Or give me the last 7 digits of the VIN number marked on the ECU, and I can check in my ETK.

I've red about Maroon and Silver labels on American forums, but not sure if it applies over here.

ECU doesn't exist yet! Not in my ownership, anyway.
I've got a M50B25 Tu with no ECU taking up space in the workshop, and it's time it found its way into a touring, so I need to think about sourcing an ECU.

Does anyone have a 413 ECU for sale? Someone contacted my e-bay address and needs one urgently - I could put you in touch.

413 is a Bosch type. Siemens type superseded the 413 shortly after the introduction of EWS.

Hi Brian,
Im sure I have a non ews siemens type as a guy fitted a non vanos 2.0 engine to a vanos 2.5 car and I had to supply the loom and ecu from a non vanos 2.0 for it to work, his key was a non chip key?? strange.
Regards
