Today i was wiring in my gearstick with the built in light. I was wiring it into the light bulb in the ash tray and something happened, i think that the bare wires have some how touched and then the bulb in the ash tray stopped working. Now i am stuck with no lights in the instrument cluster or the dash around the heater switch etc. I have checked the fuses and they all appear to be fine if anyone has any ideas that would be great as i don't fancy driving around at night and not be able to see my clocks. :x

Congrats. you just fried your dimmer switch.
I know exactly how you feel! DAMN...

Okay, two things you can do are.
buy another headlight switch
repair the old one.

to repair it, remove it from the dash, take it to bits and solder the coil of wire that has fried.

it looks like this
