How many spokes on an Alpina?
Moderator: martauto
Sorry, something else to add. Www.beckerelectronics.com have for sale genuine new Alpinas, 7x16 and 8x16, for $1500. With our exchange rate that's about Ԛ£850 - ok, so you don't get tyres and you'd have to ship them over, but is that a good price? Considering the recent ones on ebay went for Ԛ£770 second hand, that seems quite good for brand new

i'd be stunned if they have genuine alpinas and are selling them at that price. sytners of nottingham quoted me 270 plus vat for a 7x16 bare wheel i.e. no centre cap, lock or badge. that would put a new set at around the 1500 gbp plus vat mark once you've added caps etc - and no rubber yet!
as for a good price - is it a good price to you? are you happy to pay that amount of money to get the wheels you want? only you can answer that.
i paid 670 for mine, refurbed to a very good standard both inside and out with good tyres on the fronts but the rears were finished. all caps included and locks work from the same key all round. i had to collect around 150 miles round trip. i figured it was quite a reasonable price for what i was getting.

To get a proper set of 8s and 7s in mint i think i'd pay it, but there is more essential work i need to do before i can indulge in those. Could they advertise them as genuine if they weren't? I don't see how. That's why i was asking about the number of spokes. Plus, importing from the USA you have to pay VAT on top, but you could try and get them to declare the shipping value at around Ԛ£400 to lower it, who would know???

Gav genuine pina's are hardly existant in the states! yes 20 is correct, 19 for replica's. However just to be a geek i had a set of replica 16's with 20 spokes! the difference was obvious because the centre caps were massive and the spokes a lot shorter than genuine. They are to be honest non existant also rarer than the real deal. They were made by RG the way.
Any more Q's i'll be more than glad to help, my fav subject!!

Thanks for that. What is your opinion to the ones on the US website then? They are 20 spoke and 16", but I can't really tell about the length. They make no mention of the makers! They do look nice, but if i knew they were fake it just wouldn't be the same, damn my obsession for the real thing!

the alpina wheel in the picture is genuine but one off a 5 stud car as the dish is too big for an E30 wheel. BBS RC for a bit more, they are awsome!
Get them to e-mail some pics of their ones in stock and show us

i doubt they have them in stock. they wouldn't be the first website to advertise new genuine alpinas and not have any.

Never knew there was a 16 inch replica, just goes to show learn something every day. My advice on the subject would be to sit tight with the cash until the right ones turn up. I dont know about anyone else but it took me a year to find some without having to pay TOP TOP money i bought a set of 7 & 8's for Ԛ£650 with boots. Which i thought was a good price. Good luck finding some, i saw a set on a knackered old cab the other day (7&8's) in need of a refurb i might try and find him again see if he wants to sell them. Never know worth a try.Simon13 wrote: However just to be a geek i had a set of replica 16's with 20 spokes! the difference was obvious because the centre caps were massive and the spokes a lot shorter than genuine. I thought genuine alpinas had the inflator valve inside the centre cap and a hollow spoke, copies would not go that far and put the valve on the rim like most wheels??
is that correct??
anyway go for Schnitzer and be different!!
