I have the whole car and have no worries with ripping the thing to pieces so transferring the wiring should hopefully not be too much of a problem?
I am POOO at wiring anything complicated :(

I just have a bit of taste matey. (only joking btw) I just like the way (in general) BMW have done things with the e30.
I dont believe in ruining a mint one with mods though. its a bit of a shame

isnt there a zoner from new zealand or somewhere similar that has done this. cant recall his user name. i looked at using a skyline 2.5TT engine in mine but was advised against using jap due to complicated wiring but other than that itll be the usual sort of fitting problems assossiated with engine transplants.if you can get a good engine and box then go for it .manual boxes are quite rare.good luck.

this engine will be the 7M-GTE out of a UK MK3 Turbo 3.0L, it's a single turbo, about 230bhp as standard and 260ft/lb of torque.

Power increases are very easily obtained, for about £300 in bits you would have that over 300bhp

someone in sydney australia has done a 1jzgte its the 2.5 litre version of the supra engine he is on here. i am doing a 2jzgte engine in my cab. not overly complicated just have to do wiring. exhaust is on the same side. i would advise not to put a 7mgte they have bad headgasket problems . good luck

they are a problem if not torqued down to the revised setting.

mrgtsx - have you got the 6 speed manual box with your 2jz lump?

does it drop straight onto the E30 mounts? what about the sump?

sump clears with no problems. i actualy purchased a 1jzgte 5 speed because i bought the halfcut as an auto from an aristo. im just going to baby it around for a while till i get the $$ them ill fork out for the 6 speed as it is stupidly priced here in australia. engine mounts lined up but needed to be extended. nothin some steel and a welder cant fix. its pretty much a conversion similar to any later model bmw engine. not overly difficult but has its moments

the 5 speed you purchased will be fine, they can handle 500hp easy , been proven time and time again. I presume its a w58 or w57

if it's a 5sp from a 1JZ it's likely to be a R154 which is a very strong box

Personally I wouldn't pay the premium for the 6sp box, I'd invest the money in trying to get some traction lol

I thought the problem on these Supras with head gaskets was that leaves and stuff get trapped in front of the radiator causing it to overheat and blow the gasket. Many people had engines repaired only for it to happen again soon after as the blockage wasn't removed.

Slightly tighter head bolts are often a good idea on tuned turbo engines though.

Interesting project too!

The engine runs beuatifully. completely silent. A bit dissapointing really- would be nicer if it had bit more 'grunt' :D
