The Smile it puts on my face eveytime I get near it. And the fact I have now done 2000 miles in my "new" one since last owning one in 2000 and I have still not seen another one on the road.

3.Even my wife asked the other day when i was getting it back on the road. I asked "why??"

It's that 6 pot sound for me!!
Always puts a smile on my face whether I'm just staring out of the window whilst working or going sideways being a hooligan when no one is watching

People from 6 to 60 saying nice car mate. Being stopped on Falmouth high street by randoms wanting to talk about my car. How good the nose looks sticking out in Tesco's car park.

The Sound. Of everythin: the engine, the way u get a little shudder down the propshaft everynow and then, the little whine from the transmission through 1st and 2nd its just full of character.
Its not full of computerised crap either to go wrong. Put a E30 into a slide and your on your own. No traction control, ESP, active yaw control, active dampers etc etc to sort it for you. They are proper drivers cars for people who appreciate driving and good cars.

I have owned one for 20 years now, since she was 4 yrs old. I have always enjoyed the sound of the six pot and the feel of the quality. When the E36 came out it was clear quality was no longer the priority with the 3 series.
I have also have several E30 bargains; a D plate 316 for £50 with 4 new tyres and exhaust and my current bargain - an H plate 320ise for $70 as my daily smoker. Bought this off a chap at Xmas who had taken it to a Fiat main dealer for MOT (why???). They quoted over £800 to fix. Went out to the car park after him and relieved him of the car for £70. Needed a new interior cos the dog had ate some of it (£40 of fleabay for one the same colour and the electrics were shot as someone had fitted non standard alarm and central locking relay. Took me a while a sort but everything is working again now.
This one I can blast around without fear of damage as the 323 is a show car these days.

• Build quality
• The styling
• The sound of that straight six
• Because it still pulls like the French TGV when it wants to
• Those beautiful BBS rims (Oh how I love cleaning them)
• Smiling every time when it's parked beside some of the most (yawn) modern cars
• The compliments, the offers and the envy
• and being a proud owner of one the best lachs silver sports in the country (yes I'm blowing my trumpet tonight boys)

I like the fact they are very sideways for very little money. I also like the fact that I understand them and nothing has ever gone wrong on one that has scared me yet.

Versatility.
Based on one in decent fettle, you could do the following..........
Monday: Attend a business meeting, and not be afraid to park next new Mercs,Jags etc.
Tuesday: Do the school run, without the kids asking to drop them 3 miles from the school.
Wednesday: (If you have a Touring) Pickup your new washing machine, after taking the old one to the tip along with half the crap accumalated in the garden shed.
Thursday: Give it a service & fit some new front brake pads all in under hour and costing less than £40.
Friday: Do a 300 mile round trip in your "old BMW" and pass much "newer and therefore better" cars broken down on the hard shoulder awaiting recovery because the relay that runs the FTR on SJU that makes the LTR on the DWR run has fried and a new one isn't available, accept from a main dealer costing £654 ex Vat ex fitting......has broken.
Saturday: Attend a trackday, and thrash the daylights out of it,without looking like a prat in a Corsa. Then drive home.
Sunday: Take a bride to a wedding, without her looking poor and couldn't afford a decent wedding car.
Long live the E30,old skool cool all the way, without looking like a cheap skate w4nker.

the looks and the comments then watching an audi s3 stuck behind an 18yr old turd and then ever so slowly going backwards as the speeds are well into 3 figures, and before you do-gooders come shouting it was in germany
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!
Slightly sarcastic but I love my car because it seems to attract freaks that dont know a thing about cars.
