hi guys is it possible to chip any motronic system mine is in a86 325i the number on the ECU is 0 261 200 073 and one at the bottom is 1 289 786.9 i have had the cover off but cant see anywhere to change anything both boards have the components towards the inside i can see what could be a chip but would have to remove the board to get at it any ideas?

yes i have the same ecu in mine, it can be chipped.

Ant on here does the chips, i`ll be getting one soon

help anyone know for sure if the boards come apart dont want to pull them apart and break something

the top PCB unclips along the edge where the ribbon cable is, you shouls see two black plastic stanoffs, thats where the joint is, once popped you need to depress two tabs along the black main ECU connector, you can see them locking the upper board in place. Once thats all sorted slide the upper PCB back away from the ECU connector and gently roate it soo the chip is visible.

Hi Ant, got the thing appart hope nothings broke have located the chip but im sure its soldered in (dont want to force it) it hasAA8512B B57120 ON IT is this the right one do i have to unsolder it?

the chip with the maps on it is the only one thats sitting proud of the PCB in a socket, its on the upper board on the LHS from memory

not seen a soldered one yet unless yours is from waaaay back in the day :cool:

My fault Ant, i looked on the underside and saw pins soldered i realise now this was the base was a bit heavy handed and bent a couple of pins but they have straightened out ok and it goes back in will ordering one from you shortlly this one has the number1267355177on a sticker on top buy the way is there a right and wrong way for it to face?

look@ the socket the chip came from, you should see a notch cut out @ one end, there chip is notched @ one end too dude......

ignore the label =, its gibberish TBH
