was never intended as a negative coment. its a good bit of work and a break fron the normal alpina reps threads.

was just wondering why use a good one when surley a cheeper one with head gasket gone ect would be easyer and cheeper to find.

i assume any minor wealding would be done during the conversion so a bit of rust underneath wouldnt be too much of a problem. (well not compaired fitting it to a range rover chassis.)

and no im not doing my own e30 4x4 conversion.

What makes you say that then Chris??

Seriously cool tool there - my kinda' thinking, my kinda' motor, my kinda dream! :D :D :D

Mud, rough tracks, roof down, airborne and grinnin to the limit!

Can't wait to see some updated on this one!

Personally I'd be spraying the shell matt Desert Camo sand colour, keeping the black rims and re-doing the seats in all weather matt black fabric.....but then it's not my car so just keep up the good work there chaps! 8)

Probably my fave E30 so far!

Got friends that live on Roundhills - must be just up the road from you as i've seen the Fessy a few times there.

Saw it again today on Lea rd - must admit, needs a scrub lol.

Have you got an E30 of your own?

fair enough, id say thats a very good reason indeed.

just out of interest how much of the e30 body are you using as the RR chassis is providing all the strength now.

is it staying white and whos doing the air suspenion?

buster the rr body comes off really easy mate, its about 10 bolts!! but you will have to alter the steering linkage if you want to lift it to high, also to take the body all the way off you have to pull all the wiring out!!

Buster - I think you might struggle by doing one side at a time, that would put too much tension on the bolts holding the oposite side of the body on and I think you would find it difficult getting these bolts out.
Looking at the pictures, they've found it an easy job because they've got a 4 poster ramp - just lifting the body straight off

Your maybe right but for a small lift (3") if i just leave 2 bolts in the other side just to stop the body falling off it may work, but with no nuts on them.Thats the advice i got from A 4X4 forum.
