This thread is no longer in the place where it started. Simon has now moved it to a different section of the forum called "Engine Swaps/Forced Induction" where it should be.no1_jazz wrote:dude the first thing u said on this page is moved to the engine swaped sectio??? now whats that all about ???

What it means is Simon has moved it to the engine swaps section, you must have created the original post in the wrong section....no1_jazz wrote:dude the first thing u said on this page is moved to the engine swaped sectio??? now whats that all about ???

You don't know what you want, how can someone else offer advice when you constantly change the question?no1_jazz wrote:Hey People im back to the game the Holidays have come and so has the car well i initially got it for my sister and its still her but hey whos not to say her younger brother aint gonaa do it all up. ok its a 31.8IS and i want to put a max 2.5l bmw engine in it lets get this show on the rroad help!!!!!!
So far you wanted advice for an engine swap in a 316, then a 318, now a 318is.
Then you wanted a 2.5l max, now your talking about a S42 which is a ubber rare race engine (You'll never find one for sale!!!)
Before you start these ideas, seriously think about how much money you want to spend, then chat with some insurance companies to get an idea if they will insure you, and the likely costs.
You can go down the 2.5L engine route for around £500 ish
a 3.0l is going to set you back 3grand i would guess, probably lots more thinking of it, time you get a exhaust manifold made, custom prop etc etc
How spanner friendly are you? what tools do you have? have you done a engine swap before? what's your auto electric knowledge like? Do you have a garage to store / work in etc etc etc

hey well now u know its a 31.8IS, and yes i do have a place to store the car its in my dads garage and talking about electrical knowledge im not to good im a guy who knows the basics of everything but im not so good with all the mechanical and electrical side of works. I know to start of with i was not to sure about wot car should i be working on and blhaa blhaa blhaa but now ive got a 31.8IS so thats what ill be working with.
That's as to y im asking some1 to help me find out what is the best engine to put in considering its a 31.8IS I mean im a guy who knows what he wants but needs to know what's the best to lump in there ideally i would like a 2.3L OR 2.5L. Talking about a budget well I have about 4k to work with at the mom but of course more will be coming in so money aint a issue as such but just need for some 1 to tell me which is more practical and more beneficial.
and by the sounds of it e30mark u shuld be able to tell that im a average jazz who's willing to do his e30 up and no i have never done an engine conversion and i have no major garage tools i mean if i had all that experience behind me would i be here lol so mark no i have never done an engine conversion.
so any1 who culd help please do.

any Thanks Jazz

The S42 will cost as much to build as a couple of mint M3's....no1_jazz wrote:ok ok hmmm is the s42 engine any good??? i mean putting a nice 3.0l lump in there wuld be nice but also very expensive but hey more power the more better rite mr insurance can rob me for all i car bnut hey he wont beat me of the line, rund a track or even in a stright line lol but hey whats better then a s42, m20b25 or a nice 3.0L ???? and y is putting in anything else retarded??????

im still in a predicument of wether to put a 3l or a 2.5 i mean can one make a 2.5 preform like a 3l?? and if so how much more wuld it cost ? is it worth making it preforme like a 3l or wuld it be pointless due to the expence and wuld it just be better of getting a 3l in there ??? i mean
what 3l engines are well know ofcourse i want a engine that wont put me down a reasonable one wuld be good i dont want something to mental and which will cost millions of buks lol
