Ive got the same engine mate and from what I've been hearing there really isnt anything out there! An engine transplant is the only way I've also concluded! m10 - turbo, m20 or m30

316i is for gays.

sorry to be blunt but why go to the cost and complexity of a turbo on a 1.6 which will only give you the power of a 325i?

sounds like a waste.

if you have the money to turbo get a m20 2,5 and turbo that! :D

im sure turboing or supercharging is going to push your insurance premium up more than driving a basic 325.im surprised you can get insurance on the 316 at 17. apprentices at my work pay around £1500 a year for little 1.1 corsa's. unfortunately its a cross you young ones have to bare until you gain a few more years driving experience.it leaves the fast cars available for us older more mature drivers :D

with insurence i found i ccould pay £900 for a 1.0 micra and £1100 for a 1.9 205 gti so its worth looking.

still fair play for having a 1.6 a 17 :D

If you dont declare and smash into the back of some1 would insurance still pay for their car etc? third pary cover.

leeman69 - I know how hard it is being 17 and wanting power but concentrate on handling and good brakes first! If you are intent on performance and aren't declaring it makes no difference between charging or conversion!

Insurance is a rip off but what can ya do eh! :?

yeah get a chip from the zone and see what that is like?

i bet dropping the 318i block in may be a quick easy swap and get you 110bhp rather that of the 316?

you may get away with it on the insurance in some respects? dont tell them and it may be less noticeable since they are both 4 pots and the 316i is just a mega restricted 1.8 anyway. - if i am right?

but if your going down that route then drop the 318is lump in it? 4 pot with 140 bhp.

leeman69 we are trying to help

and fuzzy 20 years is a long time to be patient!

If you want to do that then it's your own funeral, please don't recommend it to others though.

If you have a big accident / hit a motorbiker & leave him paralysed / mow down a bus queue, then you will be ****ed. The insurance company will still have to pay out (I think that's how it works now), but will come after you through the courts for the money. & that could be lots of money. So I hardly think checking an engine number is going to be too much trouble for them. & nor is checking for superchargers / turbos / chips / whatever.

As a 17 year old you are far better off getting the bodywork etc up to a good standard, & then worrying about mods when you can afford them. You may well be surprised at how little they add to your premium if you go through a specialist insurer :thumb:

sorry i see exactly what you are saying there!

i hope people read posts and think about things, it was just an idea.
i will be more responsible.

:)

lets face it a 1.6 rear drive car for a 17 year old is very good taste! i had a micra which was great fun.

keep it legal it will be better in the long run :D

As others have said get the body, suspension and brakes up to scratch first, if you intend to keep the car that is.

I bought my IS at 18 and payed £1470 fully comp, then supercharged it and now pay £1430 3rd party fire and theft. so its not all bad and thats with EVERY mod decleard :D :D
