Right, i need a buffer, as my paint is faded and wont polish out by hand.
I have looked into the porter cable 7424, but dont know about importing it from the states, sounds like a lot of hassle once you add the transformer etc.
What do people think of this then?

I understand they are chinese made and they are having a few problems with the CE certification. Clean Your Car (damn fine supplier IMO) reckons it will be a couple of months before its sorted, dont know the lot on the above link.

you can get them from mac tools snap on etc most places sell them the ones used at the bodyshop where i work are made by rupes makita do one in screwfix for about £170 or a cheaper on for about £99 i think draper do them too try som of the main tools suppliers and you should find somewhere in stock

ie they spin off centre and damage cant be done to paint unless you throw it at the panel!!
rotary ones are a dangerous first step if you dont knowwhat you are doing
ashas been said iam happy by pm to tell anyone how to get these from states in under a week with 15% discount and you will pay no vat or import duty
dollar is weak and they are cheap at the minute
i have had mine for 5 years and its done some graft and its never given any problems at all ever
they are very user friendly and with ery little time and a little common sense regarding pads and products etc a jaw dropping finish is achievable
i would never be without mine and i have a rotary aswell.Cant remember the last time i used the rotary to be fair

well, i imported mine from the states about 3 months ago and it was 99 bucks and 50 bucks postage which at the time the exchange rate was great for us and it worked out at £72. i then got charged import duty at gatwick (another £23) and then bought the transformer and cabling (for another £50).. so all in it was still less than £150 and only took a week to co-ordinate all this to my door.
you may be better off buying from ebay now as the prices have come down but make sure you factor in the pads cost as these will bump it up. i then went mad and bought some amazing poorboys and chemical guys polish/waxes/sealants but i must say - do it, and do it now... the finish is amazing and i have since done a few of my friends cars (who paid for my time) and it has paid for itself.
there are loads of tutorial videos on youtube so order your pc and get watching - good luck!
