Just picked up another 320, a 89F car with only 25000 miles on a replacement engine.
Would this be a straight swap for my tired 320 86D engine?
Would I need to swap the loom? If so, how difficult is this?

Cheers

I'm pretty sure they pretty much drop in, you'll have to change water pump, thermostat housing etc to tailor it to your car.

I think the biggest problem would be that the two cars have different control systems..

the 86D will be L-jetronic and the 89F will be motronic

It is possible to do the swap, but TBH, I'd suggest looking about for a pre 1988 320 as a donor so that its plug in and play :D

It's only a matter of changing the sensors over ETC.

Maybe you could do a motronic conversion?
