I was just wondering if ABS was standard on the phase 2 325 SE.

The orange ABS light doesn't come on in my car when I start it up and I'm not sure if the bulb is just gone or if I don't have ABS at all

It's an 88 325.

Cheers folks! :D

Hi willow , just had probs with my abs , the easiest way to check your abs is to go fast and then brake hard !
Just make sure there is nothing behind you !
If it pulses through your pedal your ok and its just the bulb gone , i took the time to strip out the cluster to get the bulb , but you dont have to cos you can get it all in place , take off the plastic cover under steering wheel , the big one that hides the ecu , and reach up through .
Feel around directly behind the warning light , its just two wires on a push in connecter, EASY !
If this dont sort it , post again and i will tell you about how i put mine back in working order.

OOPS , i missed a bit , the easiest way to check if you have abs is to look behind the passenger head light , if you have there should be a big gold lump of metal with brake pipes off it , oh and it has ABS written on it , bit of a give away really ! !

Cheers Jibbers, I'll have a look after work this evening. Not too sure about braking hard from fast at the moment, it's been raining all day here - so that might be asking for trouble

Would have thought ABS would be fitted to a SE.
Usual reason for no light, is that the ABS is faulty, and a previous owner has removed the bulb to get the car through MOT or to sell it.
If you find you have ABS, and the bulb is missing, then put one in and tell us what happens.
Bulb can be reached by removing the large panel above the driver's legs, and reaching up behind the cluster. Lampholder is sererate from the cluster, and just pushes in the back.

Brian, it definately has ABS I checked behind the headlight and saw the unit there.

Hopefully tonight I'm changing my SI board so I'll be able to see if it's just a bulb or not.

Cheers

Ok I finally changed my SI board tonight (woohoo I can finally reset the led's) Cheers Jonb :D

While I had the cluster out I saw that the ABS bulb is present but not working. Also, the brake pad wear light is missing (I'm sure this means it was removed because the pad wear sensor is faulty  ).

So does anyone know where can I get a replacement bulb for the ABS warning and what about the brake pad wear warning - the whole unit is missing, not just the bub - are they easy enough to get?

Cheers folks!

If the brake wear bulb is missing, there's a fair chance that a large 220 ohm resistor that lives near the temp gauge is dry jointed. (It's inside a rectangular lump on the back of the cluster, but you don't need to get at that side of the PCB.)

Jibbers I won't be there on Sunday, cheers for the offer though 8)

What I'm missing is the bulb and bulb holder for the brake wear indicator.

I also need to replace the bulb for the ABS light - can these tiny bulbs be bought at Halfords or should I go to BMW?

Brian I didn't notice the resistor, I'll check when I change the bulbs.

Cheers
