there's somone on here who is well on his way through this conversion.
Problem is I can't remember his screen name and he's based in New Zealand so no chance of popping round for a cup of tea and a look

i think if you need to ask these questions then it will be to much trouble for you personally. if you get a specialist to fit it for you then your looking at a bill for around £2000+ for labour only as you already have the donor car. just a rough guess but they usually end up much much more than you expect.

if youve changed engines before then you probably would manage.it would just be a case of overcoming problems as they arose and making up your own mounts etc. basic principles would be the same with perhaps a bit of cutting and welding to make it fit.maybe a specialist to do the electrics would be a good idea though.

To be honest its not really a hard swap in my opinion at all. You need a front sump 1uz for a start, bellhousing adaptor for a w series gearbox (im using a w55 supra box) the only mission is really the brake booster (im using a mk11 golf booster and nissan navara master cylinder) custom drive shaft to mount to the bmw lsd diff and toyota gearbox. I used the factory drive shaft modified to suit. i could go on and on but it would take me ages lol and im at work

jaffro - from what drifty has said above re the sump. you will need to get a sump from a LS400 as the soarer has the rear sump.
Re the gearbox, not sure how common the W55 box is here, think they can be found in the MK4 supra 3.0 N/A manual cars. I believe the R154 box from the MK3 Supra Turbo is a stronger unit, but they are sought after in the MK3 supra community here as many were autos.
Hope that helps

had the soarer for 18 months.
all V8 soarers are autos, they never made a manual, not sure if there was ever a manual LS400 either.
you have the 2 manual gearbox options outlined above, for low cost, you are best hunting out manual boxes from MK3 supras as the turbo used the R154 but the non-turbo may actually have used the W54 mentioned by Drifty. look on egay or check out http://forum.mkiiisupra.net to see if anyone is busting a car on there.
as also mentioned, you will need to get a bell housing adaptor to mate the manual box to the engine.
a couple of other places to check out for info www.soarercentral.com an aussie soarer forum but there are a few on there who have done the manual conversion now.

Yes will need to be from a ls400 or celisor,
the w55 is quite common here but there are also other options like the w57 or w58 they all use the same mounts but have different ratios.
also make sure the gearbox is a rear shifter w series gearbox. again there are 4 types of shifter positions, front, mid, rear and remote. rear is best but remote will work.
the r154 is a stronger unit with slightly better ratios for the highway but in all honesty the w series gearboxs will handle 500hp no probs lol.
all 1uzfe toyotas are factory auto no manuals at all.
