Right, the M3's insurance is up for renewal in a few weeks so I have been phoning around. I decided to go with classic insurance as I could up the use of my second car and apply my no-claims to that instead.
So I phone up and get a very reasonable quote plus I'm informed that as a member of the BMW Car Club GB I can get a further 10% off of the already cheap price. Super. Only catch it that as my car was one of the very first it's a 1986 and their computer only showed 1987 onwards so I had been quoted on that basis as both me and the chap at the insurance company assumed it was going to be roughly the same.
Later the same day another person from the insurance company calls me back and says it's Ԛ£70 more because it's an '86 and not an '87?! WTF? This seems a bit off considering the models are identical.
Anyone else experienced this?

Hmmmm strange....how can they charge Ԛ£70 more?
Im going through the same process at the mo...tried several companies for a classic policy....
One said I had to be 30 before I could have a classic policy and another said the car isnt old enough....has to be pre '84 ?????
So looks like I'm going with HIC for the Ԛ£700 they want!
Only another 3 or 7 years till I can get classic insurance!

Well, depsite the odd premium loading Carole Nash are by far the cheapest thus far but limited to 5k per year.
I just got a grilling from a bloke at another insurance company about 5,000 miles being an awful lot of miles for a second car!?!? I thought I was under suspicion of committing some heinous crime the way he was talking to me!
