Hello, got a 1989 325i tourer, last couple of days i've been hearing a kinda metally scratching/grinding/scraping noise it's not very loud but sometimes when i slow down and come to a stop it sounds like i'm dragging my exhaust or something along the floor, I can also feel a bit of banging underneath the car through the pedals. I checked underneath the car and there was evidence of a small leak near the front of the car but the clutch fluid reservoir is still on the max mark.

Also i forgot to say, my clutch pedal is usually quite stiff. On the way home today i changed from 2nd to 3rd and after that my clutch pedal went really soft and easy to push and my biting point changed, clutch pedal is almost lifted right up before it starts to bite. I got home, left it for about an hour had another drive and the biting point was still quite high but not as high as before, hope that makes sense.

check for leaks a common problem use to be the plastic connector between the resevoir pipe and master cylinder cracking.

Also check the slave cylinder rod could of pop out slightly.

also the locating pin on the clutch fork could of broken.

all small costs but a bugger to do.
