e36 318 engine into an e30?

hi is this change a straight swap on the same mounts? it would be going into a 318 e30 currently with an M40 engine in, is this the same engine?

It can be made to fit but it's a pain in the arse. You need to swap the sump, oil pick up as well as the front cover/oil pump.

I have a mate with an absolutely superb M40 engine - he's up in Worksop and the engine is a gem.

i would have it, if it was closer mate, its a pain in the arse finding an engine round here

shouldn't be a prob couriering(sp?) it. we get stuff strapped to pallets in all shapes and sises. you wont have to get your boot oily.
