It's times like this I feel a THANK YOU just isn't enough for Dameon (Old Skool 2002) who spent the morning yesterday fixing my rear suspension.

His attention to detail, stubborn perfectionism and insistence on making the job 'just right' has resulted in one happy Touring owner and a nice, solid and roadworthy suspension set-up.

Here are some pics of what he did yesterday:

Rear shock assembly removed....not looking too nice!
Image

Non too pretty from underneath either (what is that silicone doing there??)
Image

The turret was made flat again, cleaned up for welding then an old top-mount bolted down through from above to align the Z3 plate and keep it in place.
Image

Z3 plate tacked into place ready for being seam welded right the way around. (top mount was removed to prevent the rubber mount from melting)
Image

Plate fully welded and seam sealed....
Image

...then undersealed
Image

The same for the top of the turret
Image

Shock assembly refitted (with new M3 Cab top-mounts and gasket)
Image

Another Z3 Plate & new gasket fitted to the top side as well for extra double peace of mind! Now 6mm of extra strength to ensure it will last for a while!
Image

What can I say - the guy is an absolute LEGEND! Giving up his Sunday to help me out is above and beyond....so again....THANK YOU!

Thanks also to Paul (ZimmerBimmer) for raiding the Parts Dept on a Sunday to grab the new parts! Was great to meet you at last...

With the help of you two, the E30 grin has returned! :D :D

Here's a shot of the Touring, the Scumball E34 and 'some old BM' from the only other moment yesterday when it wasn't chucking it down:

Image

Now, was it my Touring you said would suit the S50 Dameon?? winkeye Be my guest!

Looks like a bloody good job that :thumb:

So there was obviously enough thread on the shocks to use two Z3 plates then winkeye

Wow, whos house was that? Were Hansel and Gretal(Sp) just out of shot somewhere?

That looks like a pucker job and a really smart looking touring.

Silicone is often used to cover up rusty bits by bodgers come mot time, I bought a supra and both rear inner arches were almost completely made out of silcone then undersealed!!! Same as yourself I dont believe it be the sellers fault more likely someone else further down the line.

Ahh I see you got a picture of my old banger and my council house into the background there Bruce winkeye

The top mounts are from an E46 M3 Cabrio, I think they are around £13 each, not really a lot of cash. Don't forget if you are doing these then you will need to order the gaskets too. If you are using Z3 reinforcement plates then order 4 gaskets, two for each side.

At first I thought it was your garden shed.....

Up for some of that!

Failing that, I'm always happy for people to drop around my place for a cuppa and a jaw wobble!

Anytime you're near St George area, let me know and I'll get the kettle on....

Huh text filter? How are under 17's supposed to communicate with us?

I dunno where that is that you just said but there are some great locations (waterfront) in Bristol to take photos of nice e30's (and mine) and sink a pint.

I might bang up a thread in the meets section when I get chance.

on the same side of the docks as the industrial museum - great sarnies and coffee and a seriously good backdrop for pictures...

As Rich says, the Buttery is a FANTASTIC bacon butty eatery on the dockside!

Sunday morning before 11am best to avoid the long queues and as Mr Box Clever has mentioned, not far at all from some stunning photo ops... :D

That's because the back end hadn't been compressed/bounced after me messing with it and having it jacked up etc.
