I WONDER IF ANYBODY OUT THERE CAN HELP ME OUT. I'VE JUST BOUGHT MY FIRST E30, A 320i TOURING. IT SEEMS TO BE IN FAIRLY GOOD SHAPE, IT'S HAD MONEY SPENT ON IT AND MECHANICALLY SEEMS NICE AND TIGHT.
THE PROBLEM IS IT FEELS VERY SLUGGISH AND I FEEL LIKE I REALLY NEED TO CANE IT TO BRING IT TO LIFE.
THE CAR HAS A FULL S/S EXHAUST SYSTEM WHICH SOUNDS FANTASTIC BUT I'M WONDERING IF THIS IS THE CAUSE.
I'VE NO IDEA WHAT MAKE IT IS AND NEITHER HAS THE PREVIOUS OWNER BUT I'LL KEEP ON TRYING.
THE CAR IS NEW TO ME (3 DAYS) AND I'M STILL GETTING USED TO IT BUT I'VE HAD THREE E28's INCLUDING A 520 AND THAT FELT A LOT MORE RESPONSIVE.
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT AS IT'S A NICE CAR BUT FEELS AS THOUGH IT'S BEING STRANGLED............THANKS HKG.

probably needs a tune-up. does the car hestitate when you pound it? check your plugs, filters and other mechanical parts. the 320's are not known to produce great power, it usually kicks in on the top end, around 4k-6.5k. goodluck!

welcome. just try a general service to start with as if its been poorly maintained previously then it will make a big difference but a 320 isnt the most responsive car in the first place.

check things like, dizzy, rotor, leads, plugs, air filter, might be worth you takeing it to get it crypton tuned(although there is only a limited things they can do due to the monotronic being old!)

FEELS AS THOUGH IT'S BEING STRANGLED
Thats because it is with the small inlet manifold / TB, A good mod on the 320 is fitting the 325 inlet manifold/TB
