Pretty much standard for all that gear now, rare that one passes me without the air-con, much nicer than the equivalent Iveco winkeye

Cool, i've passed my Class 2, studying for my CPC at the mo which will give me a free class 1 course.

I'm still a warehouse bum at the mo, if i pass my class 1 not sure if i will go full time with the HGV driving or just stay where i am and do some cash/self employed driving jobs ?

Nice one, this is my regular chariot..

Image

..the car and the truck!

I use the crane different type of stuff though, yesterday I picked up a 53 plate nissan 350Z on it's roof, and a 51 plate 320d touring on it's roof.

Andy, good luck with the class 2, they look big from the outside, but it's easy once in the drivers seat. I've made the same move, from working in a warehouse to driving, but gone into recovery, and next move is going to be recovering trucks!

Used this truck once...

And used it to recover a moped!

Yes, more money for using the crane too winkeye

We average about 4 cars a week at the moment the wrong way up!

It's probably down to the type of roads we have here, a lot of fast driving roads.

Nice.

I have only ever driven a 'proper' HGV once, that was a Scania Topline 470 with a 40ft curtainsider. Was a Euro spec lorry with 2x1000ltr fuel tanks and double bunks - I drove it to Interbrew at Southampton with a backload of beer on. I can say it was the quietest vehicle I have ever driven - sheer comfort. Easier to drive than a Transit van imo.

Really should have had a license though.. :)

Good luck with the new job :thumb:

i should invest money in to a low loader with spec lift

a mate of mine does it on his days of with a 2g transit beaver tail and he make a tidy sum for beer money!

you must see some shocking incidents then

Kos, yes, some good money in car transport, the insurance can be expensive though.

Have attended some nasty bumps, people need to realise that the metal boxes they drive won't protect them at 100mph sideways into a tree.

Which licence do you need for that ?

It's a bit confusing some times because of all the exceptions from EEC laws/certain industry sectors still use domestic rules/etc.

The CPC is doing my head in, so much stuff to take in, three exams

I started off with a 27 tonne recovery truck with HM forces (they paid for my class 2)
In civvy st i worked for a vehicle recovery firm
Then done a bit on tippers delivering Tarmac
Finally made the jump to class1 in december £911.50
Well worth it

To just drive the vehicle, a class 2 licence, when recovering, depending on what your recovering, then a class 1 licence, recovery is a grey area, we don't use tachos at the moment, unless driving 100km from base.
