Hi guys, im new to the E30 and im a little confused as to what kit & rear spoiler my car has, according to the history on it, its a 1989 -325i Motorsport edition in Macao Blue.
Im trying to get as much info on the car as possible before restoring it
Are the bumpers & spoilers original to this model
Is this a face lifted model
Was there side skirts available for this model
She's a 'pre' face lift model ie; it has the smaller rear lights - the kit on it is an M tec 1 and yes they do do side skirts for it but....unfortunatly they come at a hefty price - £150 upwards.
Thanks for the help guys
Im getting 50/50 opinions on this, some recon facelifted & some recon pre facelift
How do i tell a face lifted model to apre face lifted model and what year did they change
Are the bumpers & spoilers original to this model
Hi check with bmw dealer with last 7 digits of chassis number
it should be a 0796 code for a motor sport car ,
89 year will be pre face lift hence early back lights , it will also have a hydraulic not electric roof system ,as its 89 , nice looking car too ,
and painted metal bumper were on m/ sports too along with de chrome option
IMOH these cars are becoming rare as lots of e30 get modded to m tec 2 when there are early cars .
so original spec cars are now rare
its a pre face lift as is mine in my sig below, the side skirts are rare as rocking horse sh*t but mine are going on at present
Looking at ur pic it looks like the front bumper was put on later as the extension for the toeing eye is missing hence u cant see the toe hook in the pic's o the front or rear
Considering Selling the Cabby, looks like its gonna go
Ill try to find out from BMW if its a genuine motor sport,
Previous owner told me that the car had a minor front end smack and that the front bumper is a
fibre glass replica. But i think i have a genuine Mtech 1 bumper sorted for it.
Is there any way of telling weather the front & rear bumpers are original and is it possible to get
genuine Mtech 1 side skirts
Whats the centre console like. Is it trimmed in leather or black plasic like the dash? if it's leather then i reckon you have a genuine motorsport Tech 1 convertible. A very rare car.
Centre console from above the ash tray right down to the rear ash tray is done in leather
Door cards are also done in leather with double stichingat an angle
Has it got the M stripes on the seats? Looks like it is one of the first run of motorsport cabs and very rare to! Get the vin checked at the dealer! I believe the tech one kit was an option on the first run of motorsport cabs and the tech2 kit was standard on the second and third runs of motorsport cabs.
Ye, Three stripes on top cornor of the seats

Very nice motor mate 100% pre face lift, the rear light are a dead giveaway.Personally i love the tech 1 kits but they do look a little bit dated. What i did was to keep the mtech 1 front/ rear bumbers but had the little grooves on the bottom filled in to give it a smoother finish, and fitted the mtech 11 side skirts and door pods,i think it looks good but thats my own opinion and i bet a few people out there will disagree with me but each to there own eh.
Any way your car looks spot on i just hope we get the weather to get out tops down
