I want some of these.

Image

So far I've only found these guys that do it.

http://www.wide-wheels.co.uk/WideWheels.html

Anyone know of anywhere else? Obviously I would want it done right so no 'I'll do it, I have a welder' style replies please.

Also, your thoughts? I think it would be perfect for my car.

The way you should do with a torque wrench and socket on an extension.

Most ratchet sets come with an "extension bar"...

Do it munky, more evilness to the e30 touring! sure you'll ask them to paint them matt black...

but what about getting a minature version of the satin stripe done on each wheel?

Neil, was thinking of doing them all matt with a satin stripe around the dish as you say. You've read my mind... welcome to the warped world of munky!

Does anyone have any experience of them? I cant imagine they're unsafe... but there's a very small sensible part of my brain thats screaming out 'cutting and welding wheels?! Are you insane?!!'...

I wouldnt do the stripe all the way round- just offset to the one side like the one on the car

Welding wheels?better than P40 and fibreglass I suppose :D

do you think wheels just sprout out of the ground ready made like some kind of carrot????

no,

they are made, and so can be re-made wider by a person with the right skills

i have some steel and a welder but not the skill, go find the right guy!!

they will look awesome on your touring, what size?

no.... they're cast... well alloys are, or forged.

I know its just me worrying, but a weld is the weakest point in most applications, and wheels are fairly important and take a lot of stress! Having someone that understands metal say that they're fine is a big re-assurance so thanks mr beardy weirdy mat.

Was thinking 14 x 11 on the rear and 14 x 9 on the front. Using my original bmw steels as the base. Maybe wider?

My thinking is that if I use 14", (possibly 15" at a push? But I want them wiiiiide) and stretched tyres I wont need to do too much flaring/rolling of the arches?

dingbat - I know they wont drift but these would be for everyday use... I've just picked up a set of 175/50/13 corsa wheels to use at drift days

Have a word with "weller wheels" they make all sorts of steel wheels, probably cheaper than getting yours "re-made"

Example

silver?? have you learnt nothing yet?

No silver or chrome will ever pollute my car with its malevolent presence.

That weller wheels link... the wheels would look spot on, but they only seem to do 13's :(

14 x 11???

That would look really really stupid. And try finding a tyre to fit on that.

Ok maybe 11 is a tad ambitious. 10 and 8...

Either way, there is always a tyre out there somewhere that will fit.

Give them a ring, back in the day when it was popular to have the back end high in the air with wide wheels they were the popular choice then ! They may still have old stock or patterns to make what you need. They probably only advertise popular choices :-)
