I DID buy a Touring, and I probably WILL put the seats down and sleep in the back...

That's what I am doing, it said earlier in the thread that we wouldn't need to pre-book to camp. Hope this is right, or I'd better make a quick phonecall...

It's forecast for heavy rain in Newquay for the w'end. Not being defeatist of anything but camping in heavy rain and gales isn't my idea of fun.................I'll leave it until Friday before I decide if I'm going or not.

I dont think its anyones idea of fun but you just have to make the best of it. I should be picking up my dad's gazebo this week which has sides on it to keep the wind out, BBQ to keep warm, sterio for sounds, gas lamp for light and heat, good company, cold box of beer .................sorted.

Natham is Beaulie anywhere near you http://www.beaulieu.co.uk/ I was thinking maybe of stopping off on the way back on Sunday evening camping over night and spending Monday looking round the museum etc.

Beaulieu is nowhere near Newquay mate. It's near Southampton in the central South.

In that case, why bother? It's nearly 350 miles each way for me to get cold and wet plus I'm in pretty poor health.

Best bet from Newquay, Cotty, is take the A30 to Honiton, then A35 to Dorchester and Bere Regis, then A31 to Wimborne and Ringwood, come off at Cadnam, J1 of the M27, and go through Lyndhurst.

M27 to M3 homeward. M3 J2 puts you onto the M25 at J12

.
Because it beats sitting at home counting your toenail clippings

Just checked the AA route plan and its 277.9 miles each way for me, which is a little shorter than the 800mile round trip to Le Mans I did the weekend before last and it rained there.

If your under the weather then I dont suggest a long drive and weekend under canvas.

You sound like you know you way round that area, dont know of any campsites near to Beulie do you? I have been looking at B&B's as it would be nice to get a decent meal and bed for a night after a weekend of camping.

You said you weren't coming if it was wet Mr Cotty sir - have you grown to love being soggy?!

Beaulieu is worth seeing - they give you a free years pass if you do the gift-aid thingy, so if it's convenient I'll go again! Just don't enter the competition to win the Caterham - it's a waste of money; I've decided it's all mine.

I've not de-stickered my car yet, or fixed my exhaust for that matter. :? Still planning to come, but might wuss out if it looks too bloody miserable. John & Clare won't be able to (no chalets available), but me & Han should.

Sorry, there are several around there, but don't know any of them as such.
I'm in Poole, which is near Wimborne.
Anyone Southampton way should know. It's a lot nearer than Poole.

My lass (who'll be there at the weekend!) has a part time job at a hotel in So'ton - I expect it'd be pushing it to get her to use her staff discount, but I'll ask her if she knows of any good b&bs :thumb:

I got the mud off, chucked the cover on & it's still there... With the back full of beer & wine! Best hope E30Mark isn't reading this, or it may well get broken into over night! I'm off to empty it now!

Really need to sort that exhaust though... :?

Could be a last minute thing - we can always say 'bollocks to it' and do it in July when (if) the weather is something other than utterly appalling.

May be with you there Andy... Not much point sitting around cold wet and miserable.
I don't drink enough nowadays to get too p*ssed to care.
If the weather doesn't improve a bit, there's not going to be much of a turnout anyway, which will make it a bit pointless.
Bloody shame, can we beat up the idiot doing the raindance? Maybe it'll improve by the weekend.

Checked for cast last night. Supposed to be fairly clear until Sunday... Will keep my eye on it!.

Bling Weather Site

Looks like Friday and Sunday may be ok, Saturday may be a bit damp.

The only way the turn out will be bad is if people take a negative attitude towards the weather and assume we'll be sat around all day getting wet! As far as the gales go, it's a bit exaggerated. Gusts up to 48kph 30mph with wind speeds of 24 kph 15mph. Hardly worth getting my power kite out for.

We'll have a good run down to Lands End, if the Karts are a bit damp, take some spare clothes, it'll be funnier sliding around in the wet!!

Chris, can you make sure the Karts will still run if the weather is inclement?

Appreciated if you have a long way to come and are in ill health, poor preparation may hamper recovery. NOt the most motivation to do 700 miles.

My suggestion is to ensure suitable clothing is brought, plus spares. If your tent is a little older, get some seam sealant from millets.

There's plenty of pubs about, spend sat night sat in a nice pub, with an open fire, if that's what takes you. No need to necesarily get obliterated.

I'm going to try and get my hands on a gazeebo too, with side panelling. Sod the weather, I'm still looking forward to this and it's going to be a good laugh.

True. Maybe the thing to do is take a view on Friday morning.

Other things to remember; it's going to a tough old trek down the A30 on a Friday afternoon! But at least the weather foreskin for Friday is reasonable!

You wont recognise Indian Queens mate. Plus we should be there before 3pm, so avoiding that.

Although you're coming down in the evening right?

What's your anticipated time mate??

Pump yourself full of multivitamins, eat lots of red meat, wrap up and get down here mate!!!

Or you'll miss the opportunity to humiliate me on the tracK!!

I will make a descision on Friday morning, I wasn't trying to put people off I was just giving the local weather for where I am now, though in truth Swansea is just over the sea so not far as the crow flies.

I've got to head back to Bournemouth (from swansea) friday to collect my camping gear.

Fair play mate, it's a misison to get your gear, so you'd be coming down on Staurday then?

The weather is not going to be like it is on the news at the moment. Just not as warm or sunny as we'd like. Perhaps a little damp.

It's going to be a giggle and we'll get round the crappy weather!!!
