Right as most of you know i recently discovered some horrendous rust under my roof lining.
This was going to work out to be a costly fix to do right and to be honest once id found it there my heart just wasnt in it anymore
Ended up buying this 316i off another zoner E30318isbry for what i would say is a very good price.
I need the car on the road within 2 weeks and in this time everything including the full inside/under bonnet/suspension etc will be swapped over.
Only picked the 316 up yesterday and planned to make a start ASAP.
Had all good intentions of removing the rear beam/diff/brakes etc today and hopefully the replacement tomorrow ready for refitting on Wednesday.Well the shitty weather has put a hold on that(no garage) so instead of having it just sat there i decided that id start on the interior first.
So after work today i set about ripping the 316 trim out. After my previous experience with roof rust i could wait to get the roof lining out so i crudely hacked it out with a stanley knife.I am pleased to say that the roof tray is mint, not a sign of any water build up or rust spots etc.
So tomorrow ill call and get a tin of waxoil and pump loads in there, should last a good few years then.Black roof lining will then be refitted along with the rest of the interior from the other car.
Hoping to get most of the inside done by Thursday but depends on what time i finish work and weather

Not going to make this a full on photo rebuild thread but ill post up pics as and when i take them along the way but please excuse the quality as my camera has now packed up so these are from my phone.
(5 minutes and ill get some pics up) :D

Tristan is it very very clean.Only rust ive found so far is surface crap on the battery tray up front, did a bit(well lots) of prodding there today and it is rock solid so this will be scrubbed down/treated/painted.ECU for the M50 will be mounted there and boxed in.
Just starting to blister on the lower rear valance.Again it is minimal and i reckon if i sort it out now it will be fine.Thats it,rest is totally rust free from what i can see, certainly been well looked after in its life :)

Nice one Tony. That 316i reminds me of my 318i when i first bought it. Inner arches look the same! Get lots of waxoil in there, i hope it all goes well.

Thanks mate :)
to be honest it will be loads better than the other one,not sure about in looks as personally i prefer the `chromies` but in detail etc it will be loads better.
Ill put that little bit more efffort needed into this one with the engine bay wiring etc.O2 sensor for instance. When i was doing the other one last year i ran out of Black insulation tape so just wrapped it in Red
Little things will go a long way :)

Doing the same thing, and because of the same thing, my 320 rusted right through the roof itself, so got a 316 and started a reshell, might as well do it properly and renew everything as you go mate, good luck with it, I jelous over the arches though.......
