It is meant to be a sealed for life key.
In otherwords you try to open you will end up damaging some part of the key

the mileage is only stored in the key so that the key can be inserted into the SAM reader @ BMW dealerships. That way, they can then retrieve all the information they need to from the key fob...
Shaz, these keys are inseperable. The only way around your problem is to either:
A) Remove the crap alarm you put on there. It definately wont be as good as a BMW alarm
B) Go to a dealership and ask them to disable/bar the key, which will cost you
C) Speak to a decent auto-electrician (not a cowboy knobhead one) and ask for their advice on the aerial antennae in the key barrel
