I was just wondering if it's bad to mess with my bimmers suspension ( i think it would be considered suspension
) cause i've been told by a few people that i should get it lowered but i'm not sure if i should cause i don't wanna lose handling and...........i dont know much about cars tell me what you think. BTW its an 86 325.

i just lowered my sport 40/40 last month, after spending months trying to decide,
but im over the moon with the results..looks georgeous imo, handles better, stops better... the only downside i find is the ride is a bit harsh on rough patches of road but i am running 225/40/17s so they dont help. but overall i would say go for it mate just dont go mental 60mm on 15" wheels would be the limit imho

those are both really nice, i just bought mine for 300$ and it has over three hundred thousands miles on it but its still drives really good and it has nice paint and interior but i wish it was an I not an E but whatever it was a cheap 2 door 5 speed.

Always a bit curious about how after market suspension is specified...if you were designing a suspension set up you'd put a great deal of thought into the rate of the springs and dampers too. Saying 'drop it 40mm' gives you no idea if the springs after stiffer/less stiff than the old ones, or if they're progressive or linear or what.
Saying that, my car is lowered on H&R springs all round. The lower ride height makes it look racier, and helps with the CoG, but by far the biggest change is the much increased stiffness...so that's what you should be worrying about. The stiff springs on my car pretty much destroy the ride comfort, but they make the car so much more responsive and eager to change direction.

Dpends what you want really though doesn't it? If my missues gets one it'll be dumped purely for the looks over the handling as shes just using it to cart about in. Not like me and the Lupo where I give it death on a regular basis so got a good set of coilovers for it.
Sorry to steer of topic but are E30's 4x100 stud fitment? Whats the centre bore and standard offset on them?
Having plans before you've even bought the thing is always bad

as your in the states you wouldnt be worried about mots but i would recomend proper lowered springs so i took the liberty of doing an ebay search for you on ebay.com and there is 3 of the 6 from private sellers there was also ebay shops selling them aswell not as big a choice as we would have on ebay.co.uk but they are there

i was thinking you were in the uk hence i put the £ sing for gbp but as your in the states your prices are diffrent to ours you never know you might be cheeper looking on ebay.co.uk and paying to get them shipped over to you.. the mot is a test that we in the uk have to put our car through every year to make sure it is safe to use on the public roadsbimmershot wrote:whats a mot? and whats a um that thing thats behind the 50 i think it has to do with a money symbol lol. its 2 replys up.

CB = 57.1 IIRC, offset depends on rim width; for 7" about 25 is ideal.
If you are thinking VW wheels, the offset is 'usually' about 10 'larger' than BMW.
