Is there an easy way to test the HT Leads using a multimeter or something else?
Anyone know what the resistance should be?

dunno about checking resistance but if you run the engine its dark you can check for "arcing" thats when a HT lead is split and current is jumping to next lead or to the ground

I've checked the outside of all the leads and there is no sign of damage to the leads. It just seemed strange that the no.4 lead was different to the others. Maybe it's because it's the longest lead?

Dude BMW use quite specialist tools to check the HT and ignition system its very hard for you to do the same without them.

if you have any queries surely its simpler just to replace them
if it makes no odds then you have spare set
it will probably benefit anyway.

318iS became MR2 Turbo became FTO GPX Mivec became Impreza became Rover 620Ti became Honda S2000 (current) became Fiesta 1.25 and 200SX Drift Slag (when the Honda has gone)

Yeah - thanks for that Russ!
Problem with buying a set that i don't need is it'll will cost me about Ԛ£100 (which i ain't got right now).
Andrew - so your saying it's a BMW only job to test them properly?
Looks like i'm waiting till it actually breaks before replacing them.

Conti test them Bob M8
compare all the leads and see what results you get, obviously they should be within 10% of each other
HTH ish
Demlot is spot on about the tool BTW,

I've got a 318iS so the plugs are all inbetween the cam shafts down a big hole. The leads have massive great insulators on the end. Guess that's why they're so expensive!
Ant - as long as they're all about the same it should be ok? The engine runs with no obvious issues so i'm guessing they ain't that bad.
