At least make the effort with some proper spelling and grammar.

There's a massive thread on fitting M50s in the archives. All the info you need is in there!

Your first time spelling?
Seriously guys, at least he isn't using TXT SPK. ROFL
What are we, school teachers?
Brian's right though. There is a thread called 'M50 Developments'. Do a search.
Also: Take a look at Old_Skool_2002's threads on this very page. They basically read as a 'How To' for fitting an S50 (not M50 which is the non-M3 24v).
Also: Take a look at www.e3024v.com . Ste's new site dedicated to just that swap. Perfect for the job.
Good luck fella.

I got your PM, will answer here.sambmw wrote:any one know if you can over ride the EWS on the engine loom
What engine is it you are fitting? You mention the E36 M3, but also the M50. These are different engines.
The EWS system cant be bypassed as far as I know, you will need the correct ECU, EWS module and ignition key to get the engine running. You could use an aftermarket ECU, but that will be expensive and you will most likely lose the Vanos control.

So that means if i buy S50B30 there must be original ECU, EWS and key from that engine, that i am looking at? Because the seller doesn't have this things to give them to me with the engine.
What can then be done? Can i buy this things from some other car? Or even bypass it?
Tnx
Bye

Well only the very late 3.0 litre cars had ews which often means the cabrios, all of the 3.2's did.

You have to buy a whole new setup. Eaxctly like I have just done. If the EWS module, Key and DME don't talk in the right code, then it won't go, period.rossle wrote:what if its after that and you have no ews and key but have engine loom and ecu?
I won't go into too many details (mainly becuase I don't know all of them myself) but to recode an EWS setup on a E30 is a lot of hassle, requires more wiring with E36 clocks being present in the loom otherwise the software throes its toys out of the pram. Even then a visit to the dealer to carry out the recoding is necessary.
There may be a way of removing the EWS code from the DME itself, however this is only rumour and I am yet to have seen it done/covered in this country. Recalling a conversation with ian332isport I believe has been done in the US on euro spec M50's before now.
Best bet is to make sure you have everything you need from the start, otherwise budget £200 ish to buy a s/h setup complete.

Its not that you dont need it,it doesn't have it so no ews problems.
