The Megs kit is a good started pack.
I now use either Sonus green or Sonus grey depending on the surface I am claying. Green is a mild clay, grey is a more harsh clay and should only be used on hard paints to minimise marring.
For lubrication, I use Megs last touch which is a bulk version of theirquik detailer. Works out loads cheaper to buy it that way.
Also clay your glass and headlights, You will be suprised what comes off of the windscreen!

If you can find a clay in Cyprus let me know where to get it from! I've heard the Meguiars stuff is excellent.

Where is Kakopetria? Keep me informed of what products and when. I'm in the process of fixing the car up so not ready for detailing, but will be soon!Kos wrote: i'm sure one of the big tuning shops in lemesos will have it, if not i'm planning on importing some product through my cousin who's in kakopetria

Halfords were floogging their own brand off a year or so ago at a £1 a bar nowt wrong with it neither, the clay is used for prepping only ie ;Cleaning you will have to polish, seal and wax after this for a "proper" job.

Using the clay bars really isn't a one touch operation, nor should it become a regular one.
Meguiar's recommend no more than once every six months, after the initial application.
Obviously, the first time you do your car, it will take much longer than future applications, as the paint will be full of toxicants, sediment and will be uneven.
Once you've given it a right good going over for the first time, it'll be a walk in the park from then onwards!
However, in the quest to make your car all nice and shiny again, former glory blah blah blah, clay baring shouldn't be the first step.
After a good, two-bucket wash, using some Meguiar's wash 'n' wax, I recommend, for the optimum results, using stage one of the three step paint restorer from the same company.
This will remove any serious imperfections, and deeper marks that the clay is incapable of.
It is at this stage when you should clay.
Once clayed, proceed in applying stage 2 and stage 3 of the restorers.
Finally, top it off with some good quality sealing wax, such as NXT or Zymol.

just clayed my lazur blue 2 dr earlier, quite taken aback by how smooth my paint is afterwards. really pleased with the results. im gonna do my dads old merc with it as it will looks the tits when its been given a once over. should i use water as a lubricant if i clay after stage one of the deep crystal system or is the quick detailer still ok to use?
