The illuminated pics, bit blurry but it shows it well enough. Can definitely reccomend the amber illumination, really matches well.

Thanks

Just for anyone of their interested the specs are as follows;

2 RCA Pre outs (dont know voltages)

1 AUX in.

No internal amplification requires amp(s).

Just for anyone looking to get a high quality headunit with preouts and AUX in for iPods etc.

Thanks

Looks excellent, very period. If theres one thing I hate in an e30 it's a modern gimmicky head unit.

I've worked hard to keep a period look in mine and have gone for an aging pioneer P series (cassette) head unit along with a Pioneer IB-100 iPod interface running though the cd changer port. Keeps the dash looking sane yet has the practicality of the iPod fly lead in the glove box. I was impressed that even the track name comes up (of sorts) even on an old head unit. Previously I was running an earlier KEH 8500m flip front head unit with an m series 6 disc changer. However the later P series head unit looks even better as the cassette entrance is visable making it look older.

The H/U amzingly cost just £31 link: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... &rd=1&rd=1

This was probably because the advert was amazingly bad and even I had trouble finding info for the model number. Eventually I found that it was simply a fixed dash version of the TD-560 whichi is a pull out. It even came with the remote!!

Running a Denon DCA-3500 Class A which was £100 and some cheap JVC Coax speakers in the front (£30) and In Phase XT 6C (£120) in the read deck, had to raise them since they are too deep.

Overall got the Nak for a bargain price and sounds amazing, now I need a CDC-101 Changer, is the a forum here that sells ICE.

Thanks and I appreciate the opinions.

Yeah I did hav an old Pioneer, great classic Japanese made units but it had green illumination which I think would look horrid, my Dad used to have a Kenwood KDC-877R MASK unit but although it wasnt too flash it still had wayyyyy to many buttons on the front and they were tiny so it was a pain. Lucky to get this one at the price.

Thanks for the thumbs up guys, continuing to sort his car out, got the central locking fixed a few weeks ago not the ICE is done, just needs some bodywork atention. Will search the forums for someone good.

Thanks guys.

i was lucky in that my Pioneer has amber illumination. However I also have a period 1991 Alpine spectrum analyser fitted. It is a remote type that just has the screen on show (mounted in front of the front ashtray). This is a great unit but unfortunately it has the typical old square green Alpine buttons which I'm not too sure about. Sounds okay though........for a Cab.

I'll put some shots up of the pioneer when i take some. see what you think.

Looks very professionally fitted. Very clean fit, you can change the leds behind the buttons if you are up to the soldering of the leds. There is a link on how to do it ill post it if i find it. Ill be wating to see your alpine.

Took a few shots earlier. Dark ones are a bit shaky but here goes:

First up the one I removed (the flip front). Although a '92 model still looked a bit modern?

Image

Heres the replacement. I think it looks older (despite being newer!?!) because of the exposed cassette aperture but maybe still a little too modern. I think it's the lack of actual "knobs" that you turn instead of buttons you push? You'll also see what I mean about the green on the Alpineanalyser. However it's a good compromise for the time being and fully iPod compatible so i'm fairly happy....for the moment anyway?

Looks the part illuminated but id agree in saying its still a little modern looking, agreeing with the 'knob' instead of buttons. I would definitely look into changing the LED's behind the Alpine buttons to amber will look amazing if you were to do so, overall I think it looks very good, not too flashy and gives the advatage of Ipod connectivity. And the visible cassette door does make it look that bit more classic compared to your older previous unit.

Top Job!!

Thanks for the comments. Another way I've been thinking of going is by sourcing a very late 80's blaupunkt, something like an Atlanta or a Toronto, and then having it converted by the vintage wireless company and having a 3.5mm jack plug fitting. Okay I wouldn't be able to scroll trhough the iPod as I can know but it would just look SO right in the dash.

Something like this

Yeah definitely will look the part but if it has an AUX in as the Nak does, you could hust wire in, like I have a 2 Phono to 3.5mm adapter, I can play any extrnal walkman without track titles. etc.

Than ks
