whats an Alpina cabby worth?
Moderator: martauto
I know who owns the first ever built RHD alpina convertible, a C2 2.7 D315 VVO. It was a press demonstrater when new and is featured BMW 320-323-325 Gold portfolio and BMW Alpina performance portfolio books published by brooklands books the same publisher as the e30 Restoration bible. I knocked the guys door a couple of times but he doesn't want to sell
. I dont think he is a member on here. I dive past it every day on the way to work and really want it!

the way I'm thinking is to get a normal cab (say mine) to that level (ie respray, cam, manifold etc) would cost lots and not be worth lots at the end. An Alpinas got to be worth something for ever. On the otherhand I'm not sure about the colour (I'm big into silver) the colour of the leather or the colour of the hood.
Also, would it be sacralidge to use it every day?
Do Alpinas need any more servicing than normal one?

Colour is lovely. Will look good in the flesh with some sunlight on it. Have seen cabs this colour. Rennovate the hood and the blue will work well with the bodywork.
Use it everyday, no worries. No point buying a car to lock up in a garage to w@nk over when no-one is looking. Why would Alpenis uprate the performance if not to drive better?

could owners pick and choose form a menu? so this guy went for spoiler, wheels and engine but apparantly not brakes, suspension etc or did they come as packages? If so where does "C2" designation come from?

this is a c2.5 not a C2 2.5 i.e. it is cosmetic with a few engine tweakes, look closely at the front grill badge, kidinsteer alec has the pukka C2
Sytner in Nottingham made the RHD versions under license from alpina germany, alpina in germany have there own lhd versions but there seem more fully specced

only 2.7's have the dash plaque, as do the early 2.5's like Alex's which is infact 2554cc as it's donor engine was a 2.3 M20
When bmw introduced the 2.5 M20 this killed off Alex's version as this car 170bhp just like the new standard 2.5 bmw engine, so in 86 Alpina came about with 3 new models that year, the C2 2.7, B6s and then this model.
The car in question is a later version so it's just an alpina 268/268 cam, alpina exhaust and re programmed ECU and good for 190bhp.
This 50 figure i'm not 100% on, it might be for ones built in buchloe. Basically Sytners are idiots who did keep soe form of records but won't reveal. The numbers are known for all the other RHD sytner built 5's,6's,7's,8's as there are so few. There were alot more 3's built and it's a long story!
Chris take a look at it if it's local because c2 2.7 cabs are very rare and people will want strong money for a good one if you find one. There is nothing un genuine about that car. It was £7000 to upgrade your base bmw to 2.7 spec, plus all the options of your base car on top £Â£Ã‚£Ã‚£ when they were new
