what does everyone do with the metal pipe that goes in just behind the throttle body for the idle valve, see ive taken the idle valve off and put a bit of pipe with a bung in it on to the 90 degree metal pipe, but its a bit loose, and last night on the way home i gave it a bit of stick and the bastard blew off, just thinking of a better way to have the pipe in there so its sealed and wont blow off?????

its a PITA Kevin

remove the elbow completely and fill the area with aralidite or chemical metal, once hard finish as you desire but drill a retaining pin through it just in case dude

Kevin,

Mine has been re-used by the brake vacum inlet pipe, the one that usually fits onto the standard rubber TB boot.

Having upgraded to a silicone 90' bend I lost the original fitting, so re-used that fitting that is just before the throttle plate, so should work the same as before. Before that I had a short length of pipe with a bolt in the other end, never blew out ever. The other two inlets on the same fitting that are for the TB heating system, they have been removed also as they're just a plate and serve no use any more as I bypassed this a long time ago.

Along with no more cam cover & dizzy the engine bay is certainly looking tidier each time I remove stuff.

HTH, Mark.
