Hello all
Just a scribble to say that I attended last weekend's Classic and Sportscar Action day and had an excellent time. The car exceeded my expectations and performed brilliantly lapping quicker than I thought it would. I had the pleasure of meeting Jim and having a gander at his 335 which is very impressive.
A light oil leak ended my day prematurely but nothing to worry about. If anyone attended and managed to get a photo of me I would be grateful if they could let me know. My car is a black sport, reg, E52 KUP.
Cheers
Scott

I was there!! Saw your sport, it looked good. I did just the one session in my red 318is ( 325 lump). I was out at the same time as the red 335. What happened to it, my mate told me he went off and hit the tyre wall? Not sure if i got a pic of your car, will have a look on the camera when i upload the pics.
Hello boybimmerm3,
It was a great day eh? Glad my motor looked good, I,ve only had it a couple of months after selling a westfield but I've now done Donnington and C'Combe. The car is great and I much prefer it to the Westy. Do you prefer the 325 engine to your old 318 lump? If you have any photos that will be great.
Cheers

Yeah was a really good day, weather was very good too. We had a bbq down at Quarry and were almost the last to leave the circuit. I brought the 318is with a blown engine so i never tracked it in standard form. Now its a 325i lump, 323i dogleg box, m3 lsd, chip, elec fan, k+n etc. Also taken lots of weight out too. Still looks quite standard at the minute though. Next step is proper seats, harnesses, cage and complete interior removal.
Had a look at the pics, did not get any of you, sorry.

cheers for looking. Will keep an eye out for ya at future events. Your car sounds exciting, I've stripped mine, got cage, harness, seat etc. Am happy with the standard engine but would like to stiffen it a bit, better brakes and one day new tyres. Just really pleased at how much fun it is compared to my past track day motors, 205's, mk 2 escort, westy etc.

Sorry it has taken me a while...
Here you go Scott:

and

Looks well mate.
You were right, the RingBeemer went really well! There's another thread somewhere...
http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... ic&t=69145
It is one of Performance Tuner Magazine's project cars, Paul Shepherd at Circuit Motors is about to do spectacular things to it with the new DASTEK UNI-Q+ chip. With the AFM removed as well, it will be interesting to see just how much quicker things get... the 335 pulls like a train as it is!
My second session out was seeing me getting quicker as I'd sussed the layout a bit more, but this bugger wouldn't get out of my way...

Know that he was trying, as we were both stepping out through Old Paddock, and he eventually outbraked himself coming into the second chicane and I got a run on him

He was grimly hanging on so put head down and did one:

With a gap appearing, and because I've got mates stood there with cameras the showboating starts...

See ya...

Unfortunately, after all this excitement I found a bit of clear track and started 'experimenting' with LSD and more... erm... creative lines through Quarry.
Result - on the third experiment - ran out of space on the exit and slithered across grass, resting against the tyres just by the ambulance entrance. Drove straight out that way, marshal never had to show a flag. There MUST be video - I'd love to see it and have tried to register on the Castle Coombe forum to ask.
Limped back at the end of the session and will need a new track rod, and the door will 'polish' out

Anyone got a nice straight red door?

Cheers for photos Jim, I am stoked with the car. Looks like it could be a bit stiffer tho.
Sorry to learn of your little off
Bet it was great fun though. To be lapping quicker than the Atom is simply mental. I found a copy of Performance Tuner and have just read the Alfa 75 article which was really good; my dad is now looking for a 75 to take the 'Ring in October! Is your beemer the same one that was being used for drifting in the mag? It looked a lot better at Combe.
Cheers

Glad you liked the article mate - it was a real laugh! Different beemer shown in the drift article, but the RingBeemer does go surprisingly quickly, at least in the dry. That Atom driver
was a bit surprised too I think...
Still grinning about that session, did get out later in Adam's E30 cab and in a 996 C3 but neither was as much fun!
boybimmerm3 - saw you with the bonnet up at the start - didn't see you after the pits, you obviously got it going alright then!
