I appear to have a petrol leak coming from a pipe under the inlet manifold near the bulkhead.

Anyone know which pipe/how difficult to replace?

Cheers..Mak :D

There are 2 short pipes (2 inches ish) under the inlet manifold on the M40 that are prone to leak.

My Missus 316i had this, you need to remove the top half of the inlet manifold to get to it. Remove the accelerator cable and throttle switch connector (bottom of throttle body) then remove the rubber intake tube from the throttle body. There are 2 bolts in the top of the inlet manifold and 6 nuts between the upper/lower halfs of the manifold that need to be undone.

Pull the manifold off the top of the engine and the 2 pipes are connected to the fuel injector rail, they are a tight fit so need a bit of persuasion or cut them off carefully with a stanley knife.

Make sure you get proper fuel injection hose (I think i got 8mm stuff from halfords), the normal fuel hose i with a fabric braid on the outside isn't strong enough and will rupture with the pressure.

Bit of an awkward job but fuel leaking onto an engine is not good.

Cheers,

Cheers for that........ You're right I'd rather take my time with an awkward job and fiddle and faff than fry.

Thanks again...MaK :D

I got away with just tightening the clips.
