Guys i'm desperate for some advice.

Ive been driving the 320 all week doing 180 mile round trip per day with no probs until today.

When nearly home the engine oil light came up on the check panel and the check light started flashing.
I slowly drove home and checked the oil. It was about half way on the guage which puzzled me.
I've topped it up but the warning light is still on.

I don't know what to do and i need to travel the same distance tomorrow.

If its any help the oil pressure light on the dash sometimes stays on for a couple of seconds when starting from cold.
No overheating or any other worrying symptoms

Any suggestions??

Cheers in advance

This may be a long shot Dude.....
My check-panel warning light comes on when the oil on the 'stick is just above half way, so as far as that goes, nothing to worry about.
I've heard people say thet the sensor in the sump is known to stick sometimes.
Sounds like you have a combination of the two here.
Personally, unless you have a noise from the engine and/or the light in the instrument panel flickers or stays on I wouldn't be too bothered, but at the first opportunity take the sump sensor out and give it a good soak in either some Gunk or diesel.

Stuart.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

Have to agree with stuart.

Sounds like sensor wire shortin or sensor is stuck.

No major drama.

As for the oil light staying on for a couple of seconds at start up.. could be a tired pump, but if its done it since you got the car, and there aint no terrible black smoke or huge oil leak, its unlikely she'll die on you mid journey.

take it easy and relax

i think someone on here described the check light as a fashist jobsworth. what grade of oil have you got in there? if its a bit thin then you might find thats why the dash light stays on a bit at first.
