Season 2007: Task list
I'll be undertaking a lot of the tasks as part of my TAFE course in Queensland, and hopefully racing in the QLD Improved Production Series. That means that i don't have to have the car to E30 Racing Spec, so will worry about those bits when i am actually able to run with them again. Have dropped the car round to a panel beaters to have all the front end redone, will be getting the bonnet in jet black, so will look choice!
Restore cosmetic appearance (lights, side mouldings, badges etc)
Install front brake discs and pads
Install new radiator and flush cooling system
Install Sparco Group N Quick Release Steering Adaptor (bolt on)
Solid mount Sparco seat to floor
Install ignition panel (remove key start)
Install windscreen demister panel
Remove heater box/fan unit and install new ducting
Driver's Floor Panel (chequered alloy panel)
Ceramic coat BTB headers and downpipe
Remove operational electric sunroof and cartridge and weld up roof.
Obtain and install B&M BM45125 Stainless Steel one-piece Race shifter
Install Diff and gearbox breathers
Install Overflow catch tank (oil & radiator)

If I had the dosh, I'd have a go at this when I get back! Might have to bring a track slag touring with me though! Just for a laugh! Don't think they'd let me keep the m30b35 in it do you??? 
Have to spoken to Bell motorsports? They do a fair bit of modding and he runs the series(or has a huge hand in it) Does custom manifolds/exhausts etc (www.bellmotorsport.com.au)
Been in touch with him re: 3.5 throttle bodies.. but it's going to be too costly! (unless i run the car on carbs!)

Graeme was part of the original half-dozen or so that started E30 Racing. He currently runs 2 peoples car in the series, and has his own car that he races occasionally. I believe he has had quite a load of work recently, and runs the Victorian BMW Car Club Track Days, so has not been running in E30 Racing this year, and only once last year.oze30 wrote:If I had the dosh, I'd have a go at this when I get back! Tourings are not eligible for our series (yet my dad would seriously like to see one running), yet...
The M30B35 would have to go, unless you chose to run it in Improved Production.

Have done lots of STUFF, and am in the middle of MORE STUFF!!!
DONE:

Am currently in the middle of removing the sunroof, that is turning into a nightmare of cold chiseling and grinding. Not that it was a hard enough task to begin with, but there is a full roll cage in the way! Sorry, no pics since no digi-cam, but will try to find something ASAP. The rules say I have to put a metal panel in place, so will be welding and bonding in the original panel. BMW over-engineers everything!
PLANNED: Once the sunroof is out, I'm going to look at general sorting items - I have new(er) AO48 tyres that require a different spring and shock combo, and have some new springs on order (300lb front and rear to go with the coil overs). Then hopefully can put a new tow hook on the front (cloth loop) and she'll be ready to race again!

-The sunroof panel is now only a single skin
-Used 10 rivets (4 front and 3 each side, none rear) and windscreen mastick to hold it in place
-After removing a small amount of sound deadening, and vacuuming out the nooks and crannys around the interior, the total weight of the car has dropped 13kgs (about 29 pounds). Try losing that personally in 3 weeks!
The new AO48 tyres have been fitted, am just waiting on some springs to rock up. Will post pics ASAP.

It's almost up to 2007 Spec - just need a Cam, bridge out the UniChip, and put a Handbrake back in.
The roof suffered when i removed the excess windscreen mastick, so am thinking about a big Aussie flag sticker to cover it (note to self - don't use thinners next time).

hey champ your round is at sandown this weekend aint it i live round the corner ;) im a friend of stef he owns the white maserati trofeo. i had a quick glance at your e30's on friday. impressive i must say i didnt even know about you guys i thought i was the oly one 
im building one atm but its not really up to your specs going turbo route. good luck on the weekend cars look tops!

Taffy, I think he's saying his regs don't allow it.
My e21 was as you describe though and very good as a result.

Though i did find out that the exhaust port diameter is 30mm, and the space in the BMW gaskets is 36mm! My head was never port matched! That will definitely be on the agenda sooner or later - maybe when I do an engine rebuild (bring on the 9.7:1 pistons and 0.5mm overbore!).
