Nope it don't look right, but i think this is what happens when you lower a car like this way too much.
but i'll let you know for sure when i mesure the touring fram vs the saloon one.
but i'm going to higher it back up tomorrow which is a bout inch, so should be sitting 60mm lowered instead of over 80mm.
clarkey.

i tell you what, i'll take a pciture tomorrow when i lift it back up an inch at the back.

camber wouldn't wear your tyres out that much, its the toe in the is the problem people, thats what is makeing the tyres scrub themselfs to death.
Think about it... there is camber on the front wheels... but they don't wear out do they like the rears ;)
Toe is a killer of tyres.

Just to let you guys know, i raised the car by 20mm, and the toe is about half what it was, and camber is no were near as bad.
goes to prove that a few more mm can make all the difference.

I still can't see how the toe is affected by raising / lowering the car, unless the rear beam is bent...
The rears are always going to wear quicker, it's RWD... !

Messure from the arch to the groung munky, i'm very sure mine was lower.
Turst me guys the beam is not bent. lol
you would have to go along long way to bend the rear beam before the trailing arms.
The fact it is equal each side surgests something else at play.
Either way ta guys.

mine was just under 21inches from floor to top of arch going through the center point of the axle, if tha makes sence.
it was low... but as we said before profile has alot to do with it, so if i was running same profile as you, it would have been closer to 20.5inchs.
clarkey.

I measured mine next to a standard touring.
From the top of the wheel arch to the centre of the wheels.
The difference was 100mm front and 85mm rear.
No Idea what the drop to the floor is. Considering my wheels are 15" and the tyre profile is about 2", I would guess at 17-18" from arch to floor.
Your 21" seems a bit much to me. You sure you measured it right?

I'm not in contest with him about ride height!
I'm trying to help clarkey as I firmly believe his toe in is caused by something other than the drop he has.

If i messure to the center of the wheel, its 11inchs.. could you messure from the top of the arch to the center of the wheel.
I'm not in contest, i frackly don't care, i'm just trying to work out why munky has 0 toe, and i'm showing a bit of toe now.
Maybe put a stick agenst the wheel and let it go down the lenth of the car... you may see toe that you couldn't see to well now. because its very deceiving.
Just that everyone one i've spoke to or bumped into has had the same problem as me,
you sure you've not got correction bolts or anything on yours ... maybe a m3 axle sneaked in when you wasn't looking
clarkery.

as you can see, by bringing it back up, its lost alot of camber, and the toe is not that much of an issues anymore.
so it was just down to its silly drop.

toe in is there to give traction and push the car in a strait line when wheels start to spin, without it it would go sideways.
its there for a reason ;) but too much is not good for drifting as it gives too much traction.

evry days a school day on the zone
Chris

So to be clear, Camber is the angle verticle and Toe is horizontal

My camber is out abit from a 35mm drop all round but eats tyres in about 6 -8 weeks no playing, not really checked the toe, guess it must be out tho.
When i get round to but eccentric bushes i set them to get shot of the toe rather then camber? i want more tyre life it's my daily driver at the moment
P.s munky and clarkey your both mad
i wouldn't get off my drive being that low

Forgive my ignorance lads but what does lowering your car 50/60 mm plus achieve ? apart from the obvious benefits of looking council, wearing your tyres out , ruining the ride, oh and did i mention looking council

Its needed when you are drifting innit, anything to reduce grip is handy..pacerpete wrote:Forgive my ignorance lads but what does lowering your car 50/60 mm plus achieve ? apart from the obvious benefits of looking council, wearing your tyres out , ruining the ride, oh and did i mention looking council

ha, lowing it to the floor does not reduce its grip, it gives you more control of the car.
I want as much grip as i can get, but shit loads of toe and camber is not were grip is, people think 3 degrees of cambers give you grip... it don't, you find you get more girp around .5 to 1 degree neg, with small amount of toe in, like 10mins of toe in.
roll center has alot to do with it, but i'm not going to go into that.

camber is not as bad as toe... zero toe always will produce less tyre were, think of it as like your front tyrres.. if the camber is too much but you have zero toe... they don't wear and you'll get like 10k out of set of ttyres ect.
Think about it, if your toe is like 2 mm set in, then like every 50miles the tyres have actualy slide sideways 10miles... guess.
NICE BOOBIES BTW

They used to run crazy geometry on the Euro touring car BMWs a few years back, the control front tyres were so hard because of all the FWD scrabblers that they had to muller them to get them just to warm up, they looked like your rears did only swapped side to side
Humph
