Well its in with no bother , and what a difference , i have one leg like arnie and one normal size , it was gettin beyond a joke to depress !
The release bearing was so shagged it played jingle bells when you span it !
All in all it cost me Ԛ£108 to do it .
But there is only one problem , my mate was in a bit of a rush to get the garage shut and i rushin to finish the job , this resulted in me forgetin to do the middle bearing up on the prop shaft , i got myself a bit of a knock ! , oh well igot sumfin to do t,moro now !

Could be worse.

A few years ago I was mechanic in a race team (Formula V)

One of the drivers killed the clutch, so we got it in and pulled the motor out, changed the clutch and the release bearing, working on a side of the car each.

The guy I was working with fitted the wrong bolts in the release bearing housing (Hewland gearbox) without anyone knowing, got it all back together and fired it up, driver back in. NO CLUTCH PEDAL - solid

Fookin nightmare, had to do it all over.

Nice one. Is it a big job in the E30? On my Astra GSI there is an inspection plate at the bottom of the gearbox and you can slide the clutch out from that when you pull out the shaft from the side of the box.
Saves taking the box off and is nice and quick.

Pretty sure its a box out job on an E30. RWD cars are not normally as much hassle as FWD plus you can replace the selector bushing to tighten the gear change up while your at it.
