I have placed the order verbally with BTB and they now have the names and requirements of everybody that is in. I don't know whether or not anyone else attached their name to their manifolds so that is what they are trying to sort out - whos is whos, and 3.0ltr from 3.2ltr.

For now everyone is just having a manifold done, I haven't ordered any X pipes apart from my own and a full system.

I spoke to them today and they are making a start. I have impressed the fact that we are all waiting patiently and they have promised to do their level best to have working mainfolds in another 7 or 8 weeks. They are (thankfully) not as busy as they were so things are looking good. They also return calls as promised so things are rosy so far.

I will keep you all updated when I know anything more.

^ Yes mate, glad it was the right number.

Just ringing around everyone with a little update, that was all 8)

As far as X pipes are concerned, I think it would be prudent to let them have an order for it asap if you want the X pipes with the manifolds. That way there can be no excuses.

I don't see too much of a problem getting the X pipes after. I don't think they are subject to group buy minimum numbers.

Dameon - every one I took up there had the owner's name on it in white paint.

I'll have to take yet another trip up there soon and arrange collection of all of the other manifolds, and then arrange redistribution of the ones that have owners, and advertising for sale the remainder. Joy!

Jai,

Ouch! No problems mate!

Here is the list of what HAS been ordered:

S50b30
1) Jhonno [manifold only]
2) E30_tracker [manifold only]
3) jmc330i [manifold only]
4) old_skool_2002 [manifold, X pipe & full system]

S50b32
1) jaistanley [manifold only]

If anyone wants to add an X pipe then let me know, the sooner, the better. Otherwise you'll have a nice shiny new manifold and nothing to attach it to for the summer

Jai, payment is made to BTB upon completion.

A couple of questions:

Ste, can I buy a 3.2 manifold off you and have you deliver it / leave it at BTB until the whole thing is completed?

Seeing as i'm in NZ, do I have to pay VAT? I know i'll be paying GST when it arrives here, and don't want to get stung twice :D

Would anyone be willing to ship? I imagine with Ian Haynes manifold, and Ste's exhaust, one would be able to get a fairly ball park shipping figure?

I would also be in for the full system and X pipe (don't want to faff about)

Cheers lads for any answers.

I have asked BTB if they will be willing to ship to you in NZ and they will. You also will not need to pay any VAT, but will obviously pay on entry into NZ.

To get a shipping quote you need to PM me your full address and I can pass it to BTB who will provide a shipping quote. Please note that they have advised me that the quote will only be valid for 30 days due to fuel surcharges etc.

You will of course have to pay up front!

With regards to the donor manifold, I'm sure Ste will have one but you're best to PM him or even better, give him a ring and arrange it.

Paying up front is fine. Thank god the dollar is so high :D, I think this will cost me 4,800NZD before shipping!

I'll get hold of Mr. Nelson and sort something.

Address PM'ed.

I've got a home made one on my M30, Toby welded it for me.

It's two Y's chopped down to suit, it's not "pretty" but it should do the job.

They must have a dodgy calculator. But that is the price we have in the order confirmation so that is the price we pay.

Everyone happy with that?

LOL

To be fair, we knew this would be the hardest and most expensive part of the conversion from the offset, and the one most important to get right. £400 was probably a little too good to be true. What riled me in particular was the fact that the quote varied so far from the final price. How could a company that does this kind of thing all the time get it so wrong?

Still; stings the ring a bit at £900 though doesn't it? I'll get over it soon and start bitching about something else instead!

Personally I'm thinking about sending mine off to be cleaned and ceramic coated after saving for another while. Keep under bonnet temps down (it's so confined down there) and hopefully improve the durability a bit. I wonder what BTB say about it?

Again: Cheers for getting all of this sorted guys. Dont let my moaning about price under-mine my gratitude toward the group buy and all of the efforts of Ste, Ian and Dameon (and anyone else who has chipped in).

What does everyone think about the link I posted? There seems to be all of the required bits and bobs to make a cross pipe and exhaust from scratch at a fraction of the price. Was thinking about getting some stainless wire and Argon for my hobby mig and tacking one up, then taking it to a decent welders for tig'ing. A friend is planning to buy a tig inverter soon but I think I'd rather leave it to someone with a little experience under their belts.

As i said before, not pretty but should do the job, mild steel bit from Jetex i think ?

Thanks goes out to Toby who helped me a lot doing the X-pipe

Just bending slightly to match up to the exhaust pipes that don't run true to each other.

That is sexual welding. Very nice. You start to appreciate the price when you see the work.

Looking from the outside, in, the price seems high, but then a picture justifys it instantly.
