hi there. i recently got a set of 16" hartge h27 wheels, picking them up from magwheel refurbishing place on monday!! cant wait.

first thing i did before buying them is to check them if they are original.

inside the centre cap it has the letters HARTGE and something about
MADE IN GERMANY...

inside the actual wheel.. its got the name RONAL stamped?

is this correct?

a quick google search found that ronal makes wheels for many oems like bmw etc..

any thoughts?

Hi, from what i know Hartge wheels were either made by Ronal or O.Z depending on size. My 16 inch set are made by Ronal but my 17 inch split rim set are made by O.Z, they also made the 15 inch wheels as well.

Seems most wheels are made by one of just a handful of companies, OZ, RONAL, BBS etc...

Can understand why as tooling up to make wheels must be hellishly expensive!

Can't be replicas if there is nothing to replicate. If Hartge asks a wheel manufacurter to make a wheel to their design then its their wheel, Copyright etc try to duplicate that and it would be a replica

so if armani asked top shop to make them some suits they would still be armani? but i guess your right as genuine bmw parts arent made by bmw either but sub-contractors.

tesco don't make baked beans, yet they sell tesco branded baked beans

hartge seel their deisgned wheels under the hartge brand, they are made by a sub-contractor (bbs, ronal, oz etc) the same as tesco beans are made by someone else, probably hienz or crosse and blackwell or similar

also, top shop don't make thier own gear, they only label things made by design houses/comapnies, the same as the tesco bean example above
