assuming the spring purplemtec measured is standard and sits at 210mm and my -60 is 190mm then id guess at the -40 being somewhere inbetween, perhaps 200mm but would depend on the compression rate

You must be CORRECT because my car is not lowered from the rear with these springs.

STRANGE.

your spring is 210mm standard .my -60 is 190mm so a -40 will be between the 2 as a guess maybe 200mm

Surely there must be 20mm diffrence between the 40mm and 60mm springs

if your car was fitted with mtec suspension then a -35mm spring will not lower your car any I think they quote the lowering height over standard ride height not the mtec suspension which is 35mm lower

not sure it works like that. if the spring was too small it would possibly fall out at full extension if youre in the habbit of doing dukes of hazard impressions. thought they had softer coils on the end to sit the car lower but take up the slack on full travel

could be wrong, happens a lot. lol

it depends on the compression rates of lb's or kg's per inch on how much it compresses when fitted to the car. a 200lb spring might be the same length as a 100lb spring when off the car but the 100 lb spring will be lower when fitted due to needing less weight to compress it.

and indeed some are progressively wound to allow this.

it was modded from the original but not by me personally. it was done by the garage that fitted the engine for me.
